How would you handle the War Mode bonuses?

its not unfair since everyone has access to it.
everyone can turn warmode on and use the bonus.

but imho, WM should have never be a thing to begin with.
same with sharding and cross server openworld pve.

WM was made to solve just one problem that had existed since the start of WoW:
People regretting their server type choice and not wanting to leave their friends behind and pay a ton of money to transfer all their characters to the other type.
WM fixed that and we need to give it credit for that.

What was uncalled for were the PvE bonuses that will always be in the back of the mind of any player of the minority faction showing him he could be getting more PvE stuff if he turned the thing on… as long as they avoid getting into ā€œunproductiveā€ PvP

Since we need gold to play PvP it is fair. Gold > Buy Mythic Raid Boost > Gladiator.

They definitely should remove PVE bonuses (XP bonus, material bonus) from war mode. But until they do… welcome to 30% free XP on the dominating side (Alliance on an RP realm), etc.

Someone up above suggested replacing PVE bonuses with PVP bonuses (eg, honor, etc). That’s a good idea. But there could be just no bonuses either, CTA quests are good enough as a reward.

No warmode, everyone at peace. No more PvP. No more wars and anguish. True neutrals.

Yeah remove the bonus for questing and instead make engaging in Open world PVP reward exp and coin.
If you kill someone you both get rewards but you get double.
If in a party you divide the rewards between everyone who engaged, if you fight a party you multiply the rewards.
This would make it so PvEers don’t just enable it for bonuses and it would make people actually want to attack others on sight.
Compared to now that people just run past each other as if they weren’t there just to level faster.

I’d get rid of Warmode all together and assign a team of devs to do something that benefits the PvP community rather than trying to convince players that don’t want to indulge in PvP to turn it on.

You do realise a lot of players like pvping in the open world? You’re just looking at it from a speed leveling sort of viewpoint? I don’t think most of the player base think of leveling that way.

The most fun part of leveling an alt for me is getting into scrapes with leveling alliance on the other side. It gives the world a feeling of danger that it otherwise doesn’t have as killing mobs isn’t exactly taxing.

He’s right though. Why do you care? You don’t use it so it doesn’t affect you so move along. You can argue pvpers on alliance are getting 30% more exp but hey they’re working for it. It’s hard to kill players if roughly equal gear whilst killing a few mobs here and there takes nothing.

As someone who enjoys both pve and pvp I would rather the bonus stays as it is. I enjoy warmode overall and I don’t believe it is the failure people make it out to be. One thing is sure. It is a far superior system to pvp servers

So nobody then.

It is equal performance. PvE has other perks than PvP, such as more achievements, Gold rewards, More variety in loot, More mounts, etc.

PvP has more experience gain while leveling.

It is not.

Definition of bribe

(Entry 1 of 2)

1 : money or favor given or promised in order to influence the judgment or conduct of a person in a position of trust

PvP experience gain does not influence anybodies judgment, It merely incentivizes a player to may want to engage in PvP.

Nobody likes losing in PvP. It’s can even be humiliating and plenty of people ragequit over it.

Nope.

Because PvP servers do not exist anymore. Warmode took their place.

I’m fine with that. My issue is merely with people calling ā€œWarmode having perksā€ unfair.

This is highly exploitable however. Just have more than one account and kill your own account over and over for free rewards =)

That is likely why the blanked xp gain we currently have is what it is, rather than giving a reward for killing somebody other than honor which isn’t worth farming players for anyway because Bgs and such give far more of it.

I think it does actually. It makes people who do not want to PvP to enter a PvP mode for PvE benefits.
Considering that the majority of the horde players I cross paths with in Chromie time are also just trying to focus on quests if they are not bothered, both sides had a majority that just want to use war mode to level faster.
I leveled 3 characters from 45 to 50 in warmode the last couple of days and in 2 of them were killed only once by one horde player and the third encountered the hunter who attacked everyone and everything (the only person who seemd to play WM for WM).

PS: When doing 2 of the Goregrond elites that drop items stat start quests for extra XP, the nearby Horde players even joined in without killing me

Because it’s unfair.

If an old man gets beat up on the street, do you just walk passed? Why do you care? Doesn’t affect you.

I just think that rewards could be given for ACTUALLY doing PvP activities.

That is just called an incentive, while a bribe is something more like ā€œmaking an offer you can’t refuseā€.

incentive

Definition of incentive

: something that incites or has a tendency to incite to determination or action

Edit: Now if you want to argue whether or not a blanket 30% boost to all experience gained while having warmode enabled is the right incentive to have or not – is an entirely different debate than the one we’re having here.

You don’t make sense, this example has nothing to do with open world PvP.

We have that as well but rewards suck. Against Overwhelming Odds + Call to Arms quests.

I’d go with this.
Something pvp related would be best. Then you would have people with war mode on who actually want to pvp.

That example has to do with ā€˜reacting to something you think is unfair/unjust, even though it might not affect you directly’. It makes perfect sense. I was asked; why do you care?
Context.

So, that can be changed. And then we’ll have a fair system in place and everyone can rejoice.

I believe that ā€œmaking an offer you can’t refuseā€ is a ā€œblackmailā€ and not a ā€œbribeā€. A bribe can be refused.

So that is why we have 30% bonus, because Alliance players can’t refuse it.

Give me a break. I’ll understand if this is a low quality trolling attempt, just tell the truth.

Fair enough but you get the point. They act like they can’t refuse the 30% bonus because it’s just ā€œsooo OPā€.
