Huge Afflictions buffs!

Finally, my god can we play affliction in the raid now? Can’t wait to see if aff is competitive now I’ve been waiting for this the entire season, thank you blizzard.

  • Haunt damage increased by 75%. Not applied to PvP combat.

  • Focused Malignancy now causes Malefic Rapture to deal 25% increased damage to targets suffering from Unstable Affliction (was 15%). Not applied to PvP combat.

  • Oblivion damage increased 25%.

  • Xavius’ Gambit now increases the damage of Unstable Affliction by 20% (was 15%).

  • Perpetual Unstability damage increased by 25%.

  • Siphon Life now increases Corruption damage by 30% (was 20%).

These are quite literally exactly the spells that needed to be buffed, also OBLIVION might be good I’m so excited.

Can’t wait to see Kalamazi’s video and if ends up being better than demo or destro in some raid fights.

They’re okay, but miss the fundamental flaw of the class. Oblivion should be something we can do on the move due to it’s double tax (soul shards and channelling).

They miss the whole RnG for shard generation with Agony. They should be buffing Unstable Affliction as our priority dot.

I don’t want to sound negative, but come on…we’ve been talking about this for months. Read the forums and get a Warlock dev.

I played on and off every expansion since legion and I have literally never heard anyone complaining about agony random shard gen, because it’s not actually a problem if you’re playing correctly.

If you’re spending shards whenever you like then yeah of course it will be a problem for you and you will be starved on shards because you’re not doing your rotation correctly.

I will be talking about the raid here because if you’re shard starved in mythic plus with drain soul being a thing then I don’t know what you’re doing.

Agony generates just enough soul shards for you to have 5 whenever you’re ready to dump them all into soulrot / singularity windows, and if you’re soul harvester, then you got another 3 every minute for free, not to mention the tormented crescendo procs.

You make a valid point. There are actual posts on both the US and EU forums that do reference our soul shard generation from just agony being an issue. Soul Harvester is great for soul shard gen.

I love playing Aff. The changes they’ve done to the spec make it enjoyable to play compared to Shadowlands Aff. The main point is buff’s do not solve the issue.

Also, my last comment was aimed at Blizzard. Not you. Sorry if you misread it as such.

I’m sorry too I misunderstood.

Well blizzard has community managers in the forums who’s job is to read the forums and communicate the important stuff to the devs, so there’s a good chance someone saw it but they didn’t take action because they might not have agreed with our opinions, they know more than us when it comes to game development, plus there’s a talent called relinquished that increases agony shard gen.

While I don’t think agony is a bad shard generator, I also don’t think affliction has a another spell that’s can act as a guaranteed shard generator, shadowbolt does that for demo but if you get the same level of shard generation in aff then that’s too much because aff does a lot of damage with it’s shard gen.

Maybe have shadowbolt generate fragments like incinerate? or something to have a middleground, but with the way aff plays, I don’t think we have time to spam that many shadowbolts with all the dots we have to refresh, plus haunt and shadow embrace.

I think the design goal of soul shards is to have something them be generated while you are doing your normal rotation,

Another idea is to make agony generate shards every 3rd or 2nd tick or something, but that’s going to be too slow for mythic plus.

I don’t know if I can still find the forum posts that you mentionned, but what are the best ideas you found over there?

Again, I don’t think agony is bad at all in fact I think it’s great for aff to have dots being useful I just like thinking about spells and rotations.

Those “buffs” are minimalist,im not sure if SL is worth taking over AC.
Oblivion is not taken in any scenario.

Not a problem at all. I agree with you in most parts and this healthy. We’re having a discussion about a class we both clearly like.

I know. Not everyone is going to agree. It is just frustrating when the class design is completely against what many believe the class to be and a number of threads that asking for the opposite.

This is one suggestion. But we don’t want to be like Demo with spamming shadowbolt. Maybe Drain Soul? But I am of the mind that Drain Soul should be like Malefic Grasp and with Nightfall procs should be channelled on the move.

I think this has been the preferred idea, but maybe coupled with Drain Soul (if you weren’t going to make Drain Soul like Malefic grasp) generating shard fragments.

All suggestions and opinions. We are at the whims of Blizzard. What are your thoughts?

I doubt SL will be taken. I could be wrong. But you have one less dot to manage and Seed is painful due to cast time, cost, and small radius.

I miss Sow the Seeds. Not spamming it, but the bigger application. Blizz should’ve baked it into Seed.

Where are the huge buffs???Oblivion is still bad, overall dps increase will be between 3.681%(gain for HC (swapping to SL) and 3.385% gain for SH (not swapping to SL)…

Maybe we can take massive amounts of copium to believe they might address our class issues for 11.1? Right?!

Sounds promising that’s for sure.

Might have to switch back to affliction after playing destro this who season so far.

I really enjoy the new Aff play style. A few things we can tweak and address the class tree and capstones as well as the spec capstones and we’re golden.

Aff still will be the bad spec for M+ and raids…These buffs changes nothing…

I really like the buffs. But would it enough?

Would be nice, if we see some buffs for Grimoire of Sacrifice, Relinquished, Drain Soul and even Death’s Embrace?

They are not enough, If you guys have watched the Kalamazi’s video it is around 50k dps increase that won’t change anything.

Thats what i said at this silly post ,dmg increase is minimal and those “huge massive” buffs half of them we don’t even pick, ppl are hyped for no reason.
