Huge Emerald... Huge Nightmare

If you have a P8 geared Miner… mine is Alchemy/Engineering

Judging by the prices and available gems on Horde WG I’d say there’s not as many doing this as you’d think.

Eh SoD has been hit or miss when it comes to Ideas. Take Sanctified for example. Nothing good came from that except for making Naxx Farmable week 1. Breaking Set Bonuses from previous Phase, clogging the bags and then making the seal rank infinitely farmable from outside Naxx. Yeah they really could do better.

You can get gold with both those professions. Engi - AQ phase bombs/fumigator, tinkerboxes; alchemy - potions, many of them are good profit. If you have flask recipes - even better.

Stop it, it’s getting tedious.
Emeralds at the time of writing are 810 gold each while obsidian bars are still around 179 gold.
As for your methods of obtaining resources, they’re far from viable.

DM is limited to 5 entries per hour, so you’re not going to get anywhere with that.
And I’m not talking about the time and effort it takes to get to the deposit (kill two bosses, so not just any alt can make it to the end of the dungeon).

Maraudon you need to group an alt to reset the instance and make you start again.

Bloods are extremely farmed.

As for going into ZG or Gnomereggan, they’re also limited to 5 per hour and you need to be in a raid.

So unless you’re really lucky and get the shaman/paladin dolls every time in ZG, you’re likely to end up with a doll that you’re going to sell for between 85 silver and 20’ a piece… Not enough to make you rich.

In short, it’s time you opened your eyes and realised the problem Blizzard has caused by increasing the rate of arcane crystals while leaving emeralds at a low rate.

So to reduce the problem :

  • Add emeralds to wartorn boxes.
  • Increase the drop rate on thorium deposits.

This guy and Potato basically think you should be farming gold 24/7 as enjoyable, engaging MMORPG gameplay. Whilst also compounding the AH issue of manipulation, racketeering and monopolizing.

I had the same issue with cured rugged hides for naxx gear, which was extreme at it’s high point, and they provided the same lame macro economics arguments.

If you are pretending for ashbringer, i think you have enough gear to do it

You can just run a circle around princess side first, then go to pueple side (there you can find some deposits also), then exit dungeon from purple portal, reset, and go back to princess portal.

Yes, but you can still farm them 5-10 per hour. It’s just a fact because i did it

In ZG yes, in gnomer you can enter without raid. But even for zg, you can just ask someone to help you make a group with your alt.

Yes, because it’s a morning. In morning, many auctions expire (i am not talking only about emeralds) and people doing price reset. In evening i think it will be again 350-500g

Do you realize the absurdity of this suggestion?

The droprate is 0.8% on average depending on where the node is. It means you need to mine 125 nodes on average to get an emerald. You can do 5 dungeons per hour and even if you are lucky and get 5 STV spawns in every instance, you’ll have to spend 5 hours in Dire Maul to mine 1 emerald.

Noone is going to do this unless they cost at least 1500g+ each

Has anyone pinged them on twitter or they just gona ignore it completely? US forums seems to have the same post - so it is clearly “an economy/demand” issue that they created themselves.
SoD is probably gona end in like 1-2 month tops. Unless they do some tbc shinanigans. People are gona quit. If we (people who have 10 hours weekly) are to spend 1 whole month farming for this reagent, to enjoy the weapon for a week… why bother?

Please tell us if you plan to do anything or if we should just stop?

No, it is 0,7% per 1 click. 1 rich thorium vein is from 2 to 4 clicks (avg 3). So total it’s more then 2% for rich thorium vein. You need 50 veins avg to get 1 emerald and 500 to get 10 (or around 200 dm jump runs - in fact less if you sell side drops such as arcane crystals and thorium bars and buy some emeralds for that gold). Not too mcuh for best legendary in the game

On average. Or you might have bad luck and need 200 ro 300 veins to even get a single Emerald. Because ultimately it’s all RNG especially on very low odds. Sometimes even good odds can screw a person over. Spent 6 lockouts of Ruins to see a single Spiked Hilt.

Btw can we buff Atiesh? It’s kinda sad that a Legendary Caster weapon can barely defend itself in comparison to the Epic Staff merely a phase after.

Half of the forum are arguing against you at this point, I don’t know why you’re dug in so hard.

The price of emerald skyrocketted compared to everything else, they went up 100 fold over the past month. 100x the price. That’s ridiculous.

The supply of them is too low. That’s the bottom line and no comparison to any other game version is going to change that. They either need increasing so the same rate as arcane crystals or adding to undermine boxes; it isn’t that hard.

Same as many other items:

  • cured rugged hides at naxx phase (from under 10g to 90g)
  • arcane crystals on naxx phase
  • essence of undead (less then 1 gold because naxx phase → from 1 to 10 gold on naxx phase → 20g+ SE phase)
  • core leather (from under 1 gold before AQ phase → to 30+ gold on AQ phase when glowing chitin armor kit was added → drop to 2-5 gold when kara was released because it was in boxes → but that supply wasn’t enough, so in future it got back to around 30 gold)
  • libram of resilience (from less then 50 silver on 50 level phase, to 300g+ after molten core released)

It is sod. It’s economy is very unstable because we didn’t have such servers before (as with standart classic) - so people dont know what to expect and what prices are normal for many items

That’s x9, and they’re not rare drops.

Went up x10 on Wild Growth; again, not rare. They were also added to loot boxes.

Again, not rare and transmutable. Available through loot boxes too I believe.

Was also reasonably expensive on P1, and was limitted supply in P1 wherein it was then added to reals vendor.

Yes, a rare drop that is now less than 10 silver, it was added to the loot boxes.

Every single item you’ve mentioned was made easier to get as they were added to loot boxes.

You’re wrong. Get a grip.

Yes, not rare, but many people still complained about it on this forum. And it was 2-3 g at some point on BWL phase, then on AQ it was around 10g, and peak time was in naxx with 90g at peak. So in fact, from lowest price to highest it was *30.

Yes, but on BWL phase it was almost 0 price. Aq released, and price skyrocket.

It was added to loot boxes on molten core phase but still was expencive because of big demand. Ofc, now its not expencive because nobody run molten core Heat 3 now. I mean it was expencive at its peak time. Same as huge emerald, now it is its peak time. I dont think that it will cost 500g in 3 months, if sod will still be alive at that point, or if blizzard release phase 9.

Not every - essence of undead or cured rugged hides were never in real boxes.

And also - forgot about AQ idols. That also were around 1g before blizzard added t2,5 to dragons, and skyrocket to 300g for some idols after that (yes it was in boxes - but chance to get exact idol you need was under 1%, and most people were opening naxx boxes, not AQ). Then after reducing requirement for t2,5 got down to 1-10g again. It just shows that even *2 requirement difference can reduce/increase price for *30 or more. It’s how supply/demand works

And Blizzard did something about it.

The ability to quickly re-supply was there, preventing them jumping up to 300g each.

Doesn’t matter, it was still added to the loot boxes.

They’re still transmutable, you’re not spending all day grinding at 0.7% drop rates.

And the amount of cured rugged hides you get was increased through procs.

Still added to the boxes, meaning the supply isn’t limitted.

Why are you this stubborn? There is ZERO reason as to why emeralds shouldn’t be added to boxes. Sort yourself out, you’re worse than a Taylor Swift fan.

Did - reduced the requirement, but after naxx phase. As catch-up gear. They did nothing when it was relevant gear. I am sure they will do same with ashbringer too - if we get phase 9, or some months after if sod is going to “era” mode. While it remains relevant, it is ok that it’s expencive. Same as t3.

The only hypothetical scenario where 700g per emerald would be OK is if you could just buy Ashbringer from vendor for 10 emeralds

Prio to that there was the ‘leatherworking’ proc added, giving people twice as many hides as what would normally be available.

Just stop it.

The quest already requires 120 Trusilver, 40 large obsidian, 20 arcanite, 20 righteous orbs and 10 Dirge’s kickin’ chops.

There’s no reason why emeralds should still be as rare as they are with how many that are needed.

No amount of arguing from you, or changing of any goalposts, is going to change that.

Yes, i mean people still complained even after this and it was still very expencive. WIthout that change from start of the sod, and with sod speed and amount of raiding twinks people make because of fast levelling, i think it would cost around 1k gold per 1 hide, and i am not joking. Supply/demand is not linear - blizzard decreased cured rugged hide requirement for naxx gear and idols requirement for AQ gear *2 after SE release - and price go down *9 for hides, and *30-50 for idols. Other side, if supply would decrease *3 without this proc, it’s totally possible that those hides could be around 1k gold on naxx phase, just becauase supply is limited, and it takes time and investments (leather for LW levelling was also very expencive) to increase that supply

Just signed in here to agree that its a bit out of hand.
