Huge FPS drops in Season of Discovery or Cataclysm Classic

So yesterday I started getting these huge FPS drops, my FPS drops from 200+ to 140-150. Tried limiting the FPS to stay at 150, then it drops to 115-120 instead.

I have tried everything that Blizzard Support suggested me to do.

  1. Update Graphics Drivers and Windows: Ensure your graphics drivers and Operating System are up-to-date.

  2. Verify Game Files: For Blizzard's Battle.net launcher, select Battle.net App, click on the Options menu, and choose Scan and Repair.

  3. Disable Background Applications: Close unnecessary background applications, as they might interfere with Battle.net App. Check for any resource-intensive programs running in the background and close them before launching the game.

  4. Run as Administrator: Right-click the Battle.net App shortcut or executable and select "Run as Administrator." This ensures that the game has the necessary permissions to run smoothly.

  5. Adjust In-Game Settings: Lower in-game graphics settings to reduce the strain on your system. Experiment with different settings to find a balance between performance and visual quality.

  6. Check for Overheating: Monitor your system's temperature while playing. Overheating can cause crashes. Ensure that your CPU and GPU temperatures are within acceptable ranges. Clean any dust from your computer components and ensure proper ventilation.

  7. Reinstall the game/app: Uninstall the game, restart your computer, and then reinstall the game. Corrupted installation files can lead to various issues, and a fresh installation might resolve the problem.

If, after following these steps, you are still experiencing issues, we recommend visiting the Battle.net game forums on the official Blizzard website. There, you can find a community of players and developers who can provide additional insights or solutions based on their experiences.

Just updated graphics card drivers yesterday to 561.09 (nvidia RTX 4070)
Other drivers should be up to date aswell.
I’ve tried windows memory diagnostics and no problems detected.

CPU temps 36-61c just opened WoW Classic
GPU temps 42-53c
GPU hotspot 49.6c-61.3c
GPU memory 54c-62c

Yo mate try put it on directx 11. Might help

Still getting the drops, my fps just went down overall a bit

Windows memory checker is useless ,

Download MemCheck86

You mean memtest86?

Aye that’s the one

Move this to Technical Support section.

Done. Should be in the correct section now

Running memtest86 on pass 4/4, total errors 0, ECC errors 0… RAM seems to be fine according to this test?
