Huge FPS Drops

Hey,
So I am having this problem these past couple of days where my fps drop like crazy whenever spell animations happen or I am entering let’s say a new zone on the map and the name of the zone pops up on top of the screen. My pc is completely new and it is working smoothly on every other aspect. Drivers are updated and I am using the same settings I used all the days before the drops started to happen, literally nothing changed. What do you think might be the problem?

  • Did you tried without addons?
  • Are you using an SSD? if so does it have enough free space (SSDs close to full drop performance)
  • Run latencymon, run the game, when the FPS drop alt-tab to latencymon and check if it’s all red (sometimes drivers can conflict like Nvidia and audio driver which needs cleaning).

I did try without addons and I have an M.2 SSD with 791 GB free space. Run latencymon and everything was green. What’s the possibility of blizzard being the problem here?

I’m having the same problem here. Everything was ok few days ago when I last played the game. I also have M.2 SSD with 80% free space and my graphics card is RTX 2080. I formatted my PC and reinstalled Windows with just WoW and still having the same problem.

I’m having the same issue. I have un-playable massive fps drops since the pre-patch event (2 days ago). I tried disabling every addon, updated drivers, I was thinking of overheating and cleaned the dust from the fans. I set the ghraphics to the lowest, and even then the game stuttered badly. I tried other games and they run fine.

I noticed that there came also WIndows update lately. Always suspicious of it when games start lagging.

I really don’t know why and it’s super irritating. Everything runs perfect on my pc but WoW.

Yes, I’m also suspicious of that too.

Always suspicious of windows updates- my pc properly froze yesterday while updating, my internet is fine though

Updated to Windows 10 20H2 version and seems to run smoother now but still has some fps drops which might be on blizzard’s end.
