Human & Worgen Form

I am sure this topic has been done before, but I would like to bring it up once again. Why can Worgen not choose whether they want to fight in their Worgen or Human form?

I understand the idea behind Worgen is that they’re physically stronger and more dangerous in their Worgen form, but that only counts for their physical abilities, the opposite would be true for casting and healing, wouldn’t it? The senses and “Wild” side of the Worgen would only be a detrement to the focus needed for magic, no?

On a more technical and less lore focused aspect, I think it’s a shame we don’t get to hear the humanoid version of the Worgen race’s voice, the female one at least is rather pleasant - And don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind the gruff and harsh one from the Worgen Form - But I just think the human form is really nice, but I would almost bet the majority of Worgen players doesn’t even know their human form has a unique voice, and thinks it’s the same as the regular human race.

i know this is a really horrible example to use, but my theory is that when fighting the worgen rage comes through that transforms you into Worgen, and im about to use the horrible example right now, which is Twilight.

i think naturally its terribly difficult to control the worgen curse while fighting in Human form.

oh i thought turning into a human you can use the human voice emote? thats strange. But i do agree i love it and i think its more unique than the normal human voice as they use a Victorian accent, and the female voice is much more deeper than the stormwind voice

Giving into your rage and your wild side makes sense and all, when you’re an in-fighter in melee combat, flexing your muscles and being physical.

But I don’t think it makes sense for a mage, priest, warlock or even druid for example, when they’re using magic, since using magic requires focus and control.

while that may be true, imagine trying to focus on controlling the curse AND arcane magic. wouldnt it just be easier to cast while in Worgen form?

at the end of the day i feel like its done mostly for gameplay reasons, rather than lore. Same we will see for the new dragon race

I’m not sure it would be easier to control the curse while in the Worgen form itself. As a worgen, all of your natural senses (Hearing, smell, taste etc) Are improved, like an animals, which means everything is more distracting, no?

I can see scope for a quest chain (a bit like the heritage armour ones) where you do some meditation with the August Celestials and learn how to control your inner dog. This would allow you to remain in human form for most (if not all) of the time. Perhaps it comes out when some things happen (like you Mind Controlled or you reach 5% hp).

Why would anyone want to play a Worgen and then do stuff in their human form? There’s already two races that are human all the time.

Afaik: The whole idea is that their ‘fight or flight’ instinct, makes them turn into worgen.
So having it be like this involuntary process when they’re in danger/stress (as combat would be), makes sense in that regard.

Because it would add more options to how the race plays? Because there’s unique voice ating the other humans doesn’t have? Because the other race that looks the same doesn’t have equal classes?

My question is, why wouldn’t you want to have the options?

It does make sense, but wasn’t the potion they were given in their zone, plus the ritual towards the end of the questline in Teldrassil meant to counteract this?

You have to realise that the Worgen form is their natural form and the human form is artificial one.

That is why they fight in their natural form, I think they cannot access their powers and abilities in human form.

if you want to fight in human form, why not just play human?

I mean, this is pretty much just blatently wrong. Before the curse they were gilneans, they were hunters, fighters and thieves just like any other human race. They even had people who used something akin to druid magic, they were called Harvest Witches. The Worgen form was a curse which originated from the Night Elves, whom it were given as a “Gift” from Goldrinn.

Because I like being a worgen, I also like fighting as a worgen, but the human form is available in every other aspect, and has a different voice / accent, which adds to the character feel.

I like to think the premise of why people play worgen is to play as the worgen, its the same age long issue as Dracthyr is going to have, why are they being half-arsed worked on and presented with a “human” form at the expense of giving up good customisation for the main point of playing said race

i really hope they one day just axe off the visage / human form for these races who come as a 2 part package cause its just collateral damage / cover up for how little attention a race like this gets compared to elves etc

I do love playing as a Worgen, it’s the reason I chose it to begin with, but I also think it’s a shame we aren’t allowed to take full advantage of the race. I know - And agree that it’s a right shame Blizzard’s work on races and customization just isn’t good enough, like at all, and I sadly don’t have much hope for gaining any for several years to come, because, well… It’s Blizzard, ain’t it?

Being allowed to use the human form just feels like an easy and quick option for those that want to shimmer a bit back and forth with their looks though, that’s all really, I also, as mentioned, really enjoy the female voice of their human form, as much as I like Worgen, the gruff, raspy voice can be a bit much in the long run.

Should be a glyph.

I originally wondered if the human form of Dracthyr was created, to allow them to access human settlements without standing out so much.

Just checked their appearance, and…
Oh my ! they stand out a lot lol. :peacock:

The only other reason I can think of, is to widen language options beyond draconic :woman_shrugging:

Worgens being originally human, makes a lot more sense with them having both forms in my view.

Maybe Dracthyr have the curse of the human ?

You notice I said Natural form not original form. Didn’t the curse cause them to permanently become wolves and become feral, and the guy with the glasses, whose name I cannot remember, gave the the ability to turn back to humans and give them their minds back in wolf form.

If you play a worgen and chose that race… Why do you still want to be a human though?

Rp reasons?
