Hunter’s spell “Deterrence” is currently not working at all on wotlk classic servers.
While it should deflect every hability launched at the hunter (from ahead and from behind), almost all of them still go through it, like cheap shot, lavaburst, shiv, hammer of wrath, mind blast, execution and so on.
This makes the hunter class literally unplayable in pvp and mostly in arenas. This class is the eternal “bugged class” but this one bug is too much to deal with.
Please Blizzard fix it and fix it QUICK, not in 6 months.
Thanks to everyone who will make this post go wide.
No, Deterrence should only deflect abilities that are casted after you use them, it does not work on abilities in mid fight, and that how it was back in the days.
Also it not suppose to work vs abilities that require stealth either.
In fact it actually positive buged as it works vs judgment while it should not, but that’s the judgments bug as it currently uses ranged hit chance instead of melee.
You are right for holy attacks but the spell still doesn’t work against spells casted after Deterrence is used, thats mainly the reason why I posted.
Besides, a lot of melee attacks still go through it when it shouldn’t, and thats not acceptable.
When DT is poped, only dots, aoe and fall damage should do damages to me. And thats not the case at all currently.
Deterrence gives you 100% chance to parry, 100% to deflect and 100% chance that ranged attack will miss.
But there is a catch, there are some abilities that cannot be parried like overpower from warrior or cheap shot from a rogue. Another thing is that if you are stunned you cannot parry either and also if you cast you cannot parry so…
When you are stunned all effects of a deterrence doesn’t work and this is intended design, so if a rogue opens on you with cheap shot then melee, spells and shots all should go through and hit you.
If you use deterrence and start to cast revive pet you are also disabling the effect of it but this time only the parry chance so you are immune to spells and shots.
And lastly overpower and chaos bolt just go through so you will get hit by those. From my point of view dete works fine and I’m experienced hunter. I hope this helped
Rogues counter it with shadow dance followed by cheap shot, a stun that is not a directional attack mechanicswise but a physical debuff, ehich has always been the case in regards to preventi g deterrence.
All abilities have counters in wotlk. Bladestorm? Disarm.
All immunities? Shatteri g throw.
All dmg reduction modifiers? (Shield wall, pain suppression, cheat death) Paladin wings go through 'em.
It’s how the game balances stuff: plays an counterplays.
Regarding casted spells: travel time makes a frostbolt land after you deterrence but it was in fact cast before you deterrenced, hence why it still hits you. All logical things really
