Take no notice of Dejarous, no one else does. He’s always simping like this. I have a topic regarding the pitiful state of hunters at the moment (not just damage but survivability) in the Hunter section of this forum…you should check it out, lend us some weight.
Macro to increase your damage 10x
/petassist on all your spells
/pet attack
/cast claw
etc
( theres a 1-2second delay on pet attacks between GCDs )
if you macro the pet main attack " bite" or " claw" to your spells it will be spammed and reduce the delay between GCD
I also hate this attacking of the guy’s performance. There may be some improvement he can make but let us talk objectively here, hunter is performing terribly. How many of the 3 world first kills of Mythic Sarkareth took a hunter? None. They’re defensives are derisory, their damage is mediocre. I only do alright through sheer ilvl (441) and skill, and I can’t beat retri palas who are of a similar skill level who are 10 ilvls less or so in AoE (so a lot of M+ scenarios).
I didn’t want anything I said to come off as an attack, it can be disheartening to play specs that are weak in certain areas of content but performance is also a factor. Also there are reasons to be sceptical when an account with achievements from 2008 claims to be a new player and doesn’t post from the character on which the incidents / issues are occurring.
The class is weak right now, yes, but that’s not a reason to shirk any responsibility for your own actions and abilities. I want to see people do better, and nodding along with someone who claims it’s the spec’s fault they’re unable to beat people at 400 ilvl doesn’t sit right with me.
Thats literally the worst comparison you could have pulled. If a spec is marginally ahead they will take it unless it has badly needed utility as they have to because of the race. Its quite literally their job. That is regardless of Hunters being in a meh spot.
And he isnt being attacked the way you claim it. But if hes being out dpsd by someone 24+ ilvl below him the odds are that its not just the balance between classes that is the issue here.
I’m not, I deciduously try to play as well as I can, and the flaws are apparent. I could tell as my character went from 420 to 440 that it just, well, wasn’t scaling. And as soon as 10.1 hit I felt even squishier.
And then there’s been no redress regarding just how quickly the hunter’s main weapon breaks at the moment either. Just crickets.

No it’s not. At this end we get to see a spec pushed to its limits, approaching its asymptote of performance and a lot of the variability of skill and ability get cancelled out. Hunters are plain squishy, it’s the other part of the issue with them at the moment. Just not very desirable on any level.
Yes it is. They are playing the game completely different than the rest of the playerbase. What they do isnt required to clear the content whatsoever. But they do it because they need every single advantage they can get because its a race and quite literally part of their job.
No we cant. They arent running around in BiS gear by the time they clear the raid. Limit cleared the raid with ilvl 436,94 and their most recent kill was ilvl 442,55 and classes scale differently with gear.
As i said it was regardless of Hunters being in a meh spot atm (something nobody disputes).
i don’t know, i seem to do fine on survival, and when i’m on mm, i suddenly do much worse.
I’m reading that thread now, this Jerby guy is making some good points. His logs are really impressive too! He’s doing great with MM hunter.
Maybe hunters not the top 1 dps among all the classes, but definitely one among best. I’m BM hunter. I have no problems with 18+ keys, always being top dps on bosses, sometimes on packs. In our guild raid logs top3 dps are hunters, including me. My advices:
- Check your rotation. You can say it’s only 4 buttons, but it’s really important how you manage energy and cds. Install Hekili addon, it will show you optimal rotation, which is used by simbots.
- Check you gear. Ilvl is not that important as you think, secondary stats make a lot of difference. For example, Versatility is such an useless stat for hunters, so piece 424ilvl with Vers could do dps as 412ilvl piece without Vers, but with Haste/Mastery. Raid set is huge dps boost, should be your prio n1 to obtain if you want good numbers. Good vs bad trinket could make 10% of dps difference, while being same ilvl.
Check your enchants, check your consumables. Raidbots website should become your always opened one, simulate-simulate-simulate and optimize your gear. - Check your talents. Again with simulations. Wrong path in talents can have a huge negative impact on your dps.

Aaaaaaand…he could probably be doing better if the spec was behaving better. Your point is irrelevant.
Yet…no…hunters. Are you not listening? It’s not just an issue of DPS, it’s an issue of squishiness too. That is why no hunters were there. They just go pop too early and are just a sponge for the healer. But you just continue along the path of denial that you already are and not discuss the point.
Objectively not true. They are relatively low parsing. And their defensives leave a lot to be desired, as I’ve already mentioned.
Dude he talks about fricking +11. any dd can play +11, my mom could clear +11 in time, every dps can pop big numbers aoe in +11

Most of the time i am top dps when doing +10 keystones
So could anyone, on any spec. I just don’t see why you, upon encountering an issue with your performance, wouldn’t attempt to fix it with what you have in your control (You, your character) at all. Sure you can be disappointed with performance and highlight / complain about those things as well, but playing badly, making no real attempt to rectify that, and then complaining your performance is balance related makes no sense to me at all.
Let alone then pandering to someone complaining about performance in such a situation.
I’ll just repeat what the other guy said.
I suggested that instead of trying to change something you cannot control (Balancing, literally no balancing is done because of complaining on forums I assure you), and focus on something you can control (personal performance).
