Hunter Marksmanship Rework for World of Warcraft

Introduction:

Hunters are one of the most beloved classes in WoW, but they haven’t received much attention lately. Lore-wise, they should be one of the most versatile classes in the game, along with druids, mages, and rogues. However, this isn’t always reflected in their abilities and talents.

Proposed Changes:

  1. Baseline Abilities: Make Tranquilizing Shot, Scare Beast, Counter Shot, Freezing Trap, and Tar Trap baseline abilities.

  2. Dispel: Add a dispel for Hunters, as they currently lack sufficient tools against melee classes.

  3. No Choice Required: Remove the choice between Binding Shot and Scatter Shot.

  4. Aspect of the Cheetah: Reduce the cooldown of Aspect of the Cheetah or add Night Fae Soulform as an alternative for increased mobility.

  5. Defensive Abilities: Add more defensive abilities or reduce the cooldown of existing ones, as they are currently insufficient in higher difficulties.

  6. Sentinel Owl Replacement: Replace Sentinel Owl with the Shadowlands Night Fae AoE ability, Wild Spirits.

  7. Invisibility Duration: Increase the duration of Invisibility to more than 1 minute, without reaching the level of rogues or druids.

  8. Intimidation: Move Intimidation from the pet to the Hunter, as Marksman Hunters rarely use pets, so we have a proper stun.

  9. Primal Rage: Separate Primal Rage from the pet to avoid penalizing Marksman Hunter DPS.

  10. Chimera Shot: Incorporate Chimera Shot (PvP) into the talent tree of all 3 Hunter specializations and make it relevant.

  11. Aimed Shot: Incorporate Aimed Shot (PvP) into the Marksman Hunter talent tree, keep its cast time and cooldown, and slightly reduce the cast time of Aimed Shot.

  12. Raid/M+ Relevance: Improve Hunter’s raid/m+ utility with a group buff or a more relevant Hunter’s Mark.

  13. Bursting shot: Make Marksman Hunter’s Burying Shot a PvP ability.

  14. Wailling Arrow: Remove the cast time from Wailling Arrow and make it more relevant.

  15. Pet Ability Selection: Allow Hunters to choose their pet’s ability in combat for increased flexibility and DPS.

  16. Weapon Enchants: Allow Hunters to apply weapon enchants like other classes.

  17. Exotic Pets Viability: Improve the viability of more “cool” exotic pets.

Conclusion:

These changes would make Marksman Hunter a more relevant, versatile, and fun class to play. It would better align with the lore of the class and provide a more satisfying gameplay experience for Hunters.

Call to Action:

Hunters are encouraged to share their thoughts on these changes and propose their own ideas to improve the class. Together, we can make Hunter one of the most popular and beloved classes in World of Warcraft again.

Some great points! I’d especially move more towards the addition of further utility and making pet utility more towards the hunter than the pet.

Whilst I adore my MM hunter (and have made it work personally?), there are times I look over the picket fence and see just how BM gets to have… basically everything.

Kind of sad, really.
