cant decide between these two, for now and Shadowlands, i will mostly do Raids up to Hc and Myth + 15 16, but im more Interested in Solo stuff and pvp, mostly Bgs and 2 vs 2 Arena, both have stealth what is a must have for me, but who is better in Pvp, rogue can pick fights but i feel hunter have more surva and wont die so easy, and in pve, rogue have shroud so i guess they are choosen over hunter in random groups, or hunter cause he is a range? But there are a lot of hunters it seems.
In my humble oppinion, BM Hunter is the best for Solo stuff (if its a Night Elf, you have a panic button in the form of Shadowmeld)
PvP… depends
As for random groups, shroud is nice and all, but can’t compate the aoe potential of a BM hunter + the spirit beast’s buff remove and mini-off heal
Hunter is good in BGs as MM especially. MM is exceptional in BGs.
In arena, i wouldn’t say hunter is generally in amazing shape, survival does okay though.
In mythic+ BM is highly sought after because it’s pretty much right click for damage and very hard to mess up, the damage is rarely impacted by mobility/swirlies etc so it’s a very reliable source of damage. Survival and MM aren’t crap in mythic despite what people may claim, it’s just that BM is such a golden child that people will overlook these specs. This said my content main for the longest time in this patch was a MM hunter and I was running keys in the 15-16 range (my kind of area I prefer to stop at) without issues and my damage was performing very well.
Rogue, I like rogue, it is fun but I don’t have enough experience of it to comment on their viabilities.
But Hunter is a cool pick, but please, if you do, explore all the specs. Don’t be lured in the utter snoozefest that is BM and ignore the others because it’s current, because BM is an utter snoozefest to play and it really doesn’t sell the excitement the class can offer very well.
played my last hunter around wrath, was super fun i solod 2 trash pacs after group was dead with frost traps and movement. Im only afraid i cant find any random groups cause hunters everywhere, rogues are more desired i think?
Wouldn’t say that
The only thing is Shroud what a Rogue could provide and nowdays everything and their mother could see invisibility
And on the M+ runs if you know the efficient route, you kill what you need anyway, not really need to sneak around
And maybe prey on the weak for some dmg buff, but only works on things you could actually stunn with the skill so even that tho’ welcomed, really not that sought after
In my oppinion, a group rather pick a Hunter than a Rouge
Camouflage is stealth but it’s not stealth. It doesn’t feel as good, and doesn’t make you feel like a stealth class.
If that’s a must for you then you go Rogue.
I find Rogue to be an enjoyable alt, ganking people from stealth and sneaking around enemy towns is a unique experience to Rogues, and they’re very fun for 1v1 duels. For solo PVP I would say Rogue is superior.
But when it comes to PVE rogue puts me to sleep.
For Mythic+ and raiding both are strong. I think Rogue has 2 strong specs, for Hunter you’ll probably want to just go BM.
I think it comes down to if you enjoy small scale or large scale content more.
For example I think melee is fun in small groups but bad in raids.
Where Ranged is a little more boring when you’re not “part of the action” you’re just dangling in the back, but for Raids it’s a lot more enjoyable, IMO.
In BGs, what is it you want to do?
If you want to stealth cap & do your own thing then Rogue is better.
If you want to stick with the group and top the overall damage done meters then Hunter would be better.
Hunter also has the benefit of multiple play styles. Rogue is always melee.
