Hunter or warlock for more efficient solo play

Im pretty new, I tried wow few years ago, didnt stick to it and now I have been playing for 1.5 month and having fun so far.

Yesterday I was doing tomb of sargeras raid for transmog and I did heroic version on my DK that was 60lvl 194ilvl and I finished the raid, but I died a few times and I had to keep track of whats going on, than I tried it with my 60lvl 164ilvl fury warrior and I had pretty much zero problems, the only time I even came close to death was with Kil’Jaedan and that was just because of his flying phase where I couldnt heal myself as there was nothing to hit.

Now that made me think both classes were good, both classes managed to clear the raid but one was certainly better for it. Now Im deciding between hunter or warlock for a little side alt, solo stuff you know thats why I picked those two, because everyone will tell you warlock hunter paladin are best solo classes and I didnt want third melee plate class.

So I just wonder if one or the other is considered better or more efficient in older content and in newer content as well why not.

Thanks everyone for their imput.

I personally started playing WoW during Legion, and after I dabbled with friends on a Warlock I made a new character with a BFA char boost I believe (I don’t actually recall exactly) and played that with a DH, after which I switched to Hunter as it is, IMO, the superior solo open world play class, whereas I felt too squishy on DH (this is before I realized I could have just swapped to tank spec, lol).

However. I do believe that currently you might be better off with a Warlock. They should be just as good for casually doing content (granted I haven’t levelled any above 30), but especially because Warlocks right now are some of the best DPS in end-game Dragonflight content, while Hunter - Marksman aside - is pretty much useless (BM is a nice mechanic-slave in raids thanks to their high mobility without losing much in terms of dps, but thats about it).

But I guess it all depends on if you want to do end-game content with this alt. Otherwise you might want to stick with Hunter anyway. For me the class has a special place regardless of the meta. Being able to collect pets, switch my pets up for variety or even transmogging and all that.

Side note to that last point being, Warlock will be getting some nice changes in 10.1.5, giving them new minion visuals and customization, as well as Warlock becoming available for more races.

Anyway, TED-talk over, hope you can make something from me rambling on about these two classes. In the end only you can decide what you prefer, but I hope this gives some of my (limited) insight on both classes.

I wouldn’t argue with Sander, but you did say "side alt, solo stuff ", and while they are both good classes for that, IMO Hunter is lower maintenance, easier, faster, less friction.
