After leaving Valley of Trials for Sen’Jin village I wanted to abandon my pet to tame another one (Boar instead).
This was apparently not allowed: “Cannot abandon last pet”.
Trying to dismiss pet and swap to free pet slot to tame a new one didn’t work either since I’m only level 6 and only have 1 slot.
So here is my question, why not let me abandon my pet?
If this is actually intended behaviour please add note when taming first pet that I’ll have to live with that pet to level x or after quest y when I get more slots…
Like I can run around without pet just fine before taming the first one, so why not let me abandon it?
Put it in the stable.
You “can’t” dismiss the pet because it’s your only pet. You will be left with 0 pet’s, that kind off counter’s the entire hunter mechanic (xept MM lmao).
Well, I can actually dismiss it, but not abandon it.
So I really don’t see the problem with abandoning it, since I can run around with it dismissed all day.
Seems like a really stupid feature.
Back in the day, not only could you abandon it, you could loose it from not feeding it.
I think this is a bit much.
Give a prompt saying “are you really sure, you will have to tame a new one…” or something like that, feels really stupid that I would have to run to a stable, put it in effectively doing so I have no summonable pet, so that I can then tame a new and abandon the first one.
Feels so unintuitive.
It give the same result with 4 times more steps and a lot of time wasted.
But should I really have to go to the forums to get this information, shouldn’t it prompt me to do that when I try to abandon and can’t?
Old wow allowed you to abandon pet no questions asked, which is the more logical option.
New WoW doesn’t, but it also doesn’t force you to tame a pet at level 5, so you could level all the way to 60 without taming one. Therefore I really don’t see the reason for not allowing abandoning a pet when you only have one. It just doesn’t make any sence to prohibit you from doing that, since you can skip taming to begin with?
Please enlighten me why I’m allowed to stable my only pet but not abandon it?
In both cases I will be without a pet when I’m out and about in the world.
Tame → Abondon is not allowed.
Tame → Stable → Tame → Abandon first pet is.
Just seems like something that really hasn’t been thought through at all, especially since this feature actually existed and worked “more logically” in the first itterations of WoW
