Hey, hunters playstyle atm in SoD are basically the same as in era with some bigger numbers from pets. Our runes are mostly passive and adds almost 0 in terms of gameplay.
Here is my idea of hunter rune rework.
Chest runes:
Beast Mastery (now a chest rune) : Your pet’s damage, health and armor are increased by 30%, and its Focus regeneration by 80%. In addition, your pet’s Growl now also Taunts the target to attack it for 3 sec. Your critical hits with Shot abilities cause your pet’s next 2 special attacks to critically hit. (combine 2 runes). On use ability summons a stable master (not usable in combat) - makes your pet a focus as a BM hunter and give you ability to swap pets at will.
Lone Wolf - You deal 15% increased damage with all attacks while you do not have an active pet. Increases your critical strike chance by 5%, and reduces the Mana cost of all your abilities by 25%. Call pet cant be used in combat and has a 5sec cast time. (combine 2 runes to make a petless MM hunter a viable option)
Aspect of the Lion: The hunter takes on the aspects of a lion, increasing total stats by 10% for all nearby allies, and increasing total stats for the Hunter by an additional 10%. Reduces a cooldown of Raptor Strike by 3 sec. Mongoose Bite no longer have dodge requirements and restore 10% of your max mana, restore 50% of restored mana do your raid members. (a support/melee hunter rune)
Glove runes
Chimera Shot - same but reduce mana cost
Explosive Shot - same
Carve - A sweeping attack that strikes all enemies in front of you for 50% weapon damage. You hit your primary target for additional 50% weapon damage.
Pants rune:
Flanking Strike - same but maybe put a 15 yard gap closer for you and your pet
Kill Command - (15 sec CD) Give the command to kill, your pet instantly dose 100% melee damage and increase his attack speed by 10% for 10sec. Stacks 2 times. Your auto attacks (melee and range) has a 20% chance to reset its cooldown.
Sniper Training : Your Shot abilities gain 10% increased critical strike chance while you have not moved for the last 6 sec, last for 6 sec. Your Aimed Shot gains additional 10% crit chance.
Serpent Spread - Your and your pets attacks have chance to do a bonus nature dmg and apply a stacking poison dot.
This way you get a 3 straightforward gameplays and some room for theory crafting.
All the percentages and dmg values can be changed so we don’t get OP.
