yes i wish pets was doing more damage and could have a more serious role then just estetics.
For me ferocity pet with leech bonus was always best for tanking, this + mend pet spam rarely leads to death. With the squish, numbers are so low as nothing in tenacity can make up for high damage from torghast, it’s better to overheal it. Plus you can always press CTRL + 2 to kite a bit and let pet heal.
Well some classes can’t even solo torgast. I think warlock and hunter have it easy in general…
Yes it does but if your strategy is “I will go +HP and soak the hits”, well it does not work with pets, as it would work with any other class.
Oh that’s easy, my Hunter has 653 life (503 base) and her Wolf pet has 764 life. My Warlock has 338 life (263 base) and her Voidwalker has 421 life. That’s in WoW Classic. I do vaguely remember that Voidwalker and “Bear”/“Turtle” pets were very hardy.
Paladin tank can. I ran layers 2-7 yesterday on my Pala tank, before the nerfs I had failed on layer 2 end boss as Retribution, boss was a bad, bad caster.
some classes can and some can’t ., pet classes have it easier than most…
Hunters and warlocks are probably the two most Torghast friendly classes in the game.
Before the nerfs at 168 ilevel both mine had done Lvl 8 Torghast.
Is that a flex, hell no…I was carried by good buffs.
Without the pet buffs to health for Warlock they die super fast after floor 2 and its a fail.
Love it or loathe it Torghast is 90% buff dependant (or was). The base line HP for the pet isnt the problem its getting a bunch of useless buffs on your way to the end boss.
An example of this for a Demo warlock is the Felguard started on 19k health and I got no HP buffs, by the end of the run it still had 19k health.
On a level 7 run the Felguard started on 19k health and after a super lucky run of buffs ended on the floor 6 with 248k health. Thats not a typo… a quarter of a mill.
Havent done a run after nerfs but before them without at least some of those health buffs yes it would be really tough to complete.
What was your HP? Max HP I have ever had was around 60K-75K I think on my two tanks.
My characters HP was somewhere around 22-23k
Basically I got this buff at the entrance start. If I get this buff at the start its a guaranteed level 8 clear.TBH I could probably clear a 10 if it was in as long as I got that buff.If you get super lucky tyheres also other buffs which increase yopur pet health by 50%/15% etc so you can see if you get thos early enough by the last floor your pet health is maybe 10k less than the boss.
With that my Felguard can basically solo stuff
BM hunter playstyle is totally ruined. The increased revive pet combined with little to no survivability and low health/healing makes it really unfun. It just dies too easily. One death can be backed with a turtle+revive+md+multishot+fd combo but its just inconvenient and if it dies again you are done. On MM you have to go really tryhard to do medium to large pulls. On arena BM is basically wrecked, 4 sec revive time is impossible. You cant waste trap and turtle, those are needed for other scenarios than pet revival.
less worried by thorgast and more by open world, especially multi-mob the pets suck nowadays
I run some solo content on my hunter - who is MM - with my pet to do the aggro stuff and leave me to just spam casts and i dont really have a problem with the wolf (ferocity) i use for that. As an above poster said i dont even really see the need to spam pet heals, the only time i really have to consider my pet heal and exhiliration use is on some of the end bosses of torghast but thats about it.
Cant say they arent weak comparable to previous expansions but to say hunter pets just get squashed seems a bit extreme
Pets are fine, mine don’t die in layer 8 with 205 ilvl, and that was pre nerf. Get the misdirect powers so pets take 90% less damage (which stack), and use mend on CD.
That is exactly how I killed that boss, after I realised he kills my pet. I macro-ed turtle and revive. And yes, if the pet dies again, you are done for, as you said. For “slower” bosses, I have also tried withdrawing the pet and healing it while it is out of melee range, intimidation, traps… Of course the more you spend pussyfooting around the more stacks he gets.
Well, he still thunder claps as he charges in, something has definitely changed though, as the adds come straight on to you.
That is what we are talking about, dealing with hard fights, not with other trash.
Well, these are random and lucky powers, not everyone is so lucky to get them. You cannot use that to say “pets are fine”. They really are not.
Misdirects like the main power, get it all the time, even they grey one does 50% less damage. And the vendor sells them both times on floor 3 and 6. Between 100% reduced damage on a short CD, and using mend every time it’s up. A pet is 100% not dying on the last boss. Especially if you go in with 40ish souls for 40% more agil which they scale off.
No offense but its 100% a you issue if ya pet dies. Either undergeared, rushing floor and getting 10 souls instead of 40, or simply not picking the right guaranteed powers you can buy.
As a Demo lock, hardly ever need to press the heal my wrathguard
As a BM Hunter, that poor Q is almost ruined and the spirit beasts tend to die sometimes not to mention, they can’t hold an agro above 2 mob, so feint death is on cooldown use, to avoid to be mauled… as a MM I don’t even have time to scream and my body is all over the floor and walls…
Tried affi and destro, but the Void Walker eaither pulls the half map, or evaporate faster than an ice cube in the sahara…
Demonlogy at least more or less survives bigger pulls…
(You lost an eye, not just your
? Man, rough weekend? )
Which classes cannot solo thorgast? some having it harder? Definitely, but I do not recall a single class that cannot solo thorgast on their own.
It depends on when you get the perk that increases your summoned demon’s HP by 100% per floor. The only disadvantage of the power is that you cannot swap between demons and your demon cannot die, otherwise they lose their buff.
For warlocks it is a bit easier now, since the health funnel anima power got a massive buff (from 10% damage reduction per power to 35%) which on tougher bosses helped my voidwalker tank pretty effectively. In general I had more issues with the voidwalker holding aggro than to it dying (plus warlocks have the option to instantly summon your demons.)
But the pets gain bonus hp too, I mean sure, not as much, because they can’t go over your hp, but they still gain bonus HP.

That is what we are talking about, dealing with hard fights, not with other trash.
But as i said its not hard you just have to give it a slight consideration into when you cast your heals, it doesn’t mega mess up a single target rotation even for MM so as someone who hasnt touched BM for a long time id expect the pet heals are part of your rotation anyway
