There always going to be “optimal runes” and buffing weaker runes will lead to them replacing the current runes and continue the never ending cycle
Anyways Calls yourself lucky that you have good runes ,warrior runes are all crap ,and you just try to choose the crap that most appealing to you
Which is a shame but you can’t have it both ways ,your already have a spec that is the 2nd best pve spec in sod ,while some classes have to reroll because not a single spec in their class make the cut so make sense for blizzard to focus their attention on those classes
The issue with hunter is not the numbers but the uselessness of many runes and how in many ways it still plays like the original vanilla or 2019 era.
We still use the same pet families and we still do the same if you play BM ranged. Only MM got a bit extra with Chimera Shot and now the SP build.
The melee spec is the only truly new playstyle in SoD and is still a work in progress. Literally all its damage comes from 1 attack and 2 runes. They keep mentioning Mongoose Bite in the melee runes but this ability deals a flat 45 damage with 0 scaling before armor.
Numbers are not the issue. They can be brought up or down as needed. The issue is the feel of the class. Just like rogues right now can only play one thing: Mutilate.
I guess I have to be very explicit with you in regards to this: I am NOT talking about Melee, I don’t care about Melee, Melee could be 2000% more DPS ahead of everyone else and I still wouldn’t care because I do not want to play Melee. My criticism is in regards to Ranged underperforming when it comes to damage.

Depends on the runes and what talents they tie into and what type of build you want to run. In order to maximize DPS? Yes, there will always be a meta for that. The problem with you and me is that I am not looking at maximizing DPS, I am looking at normalizing it between runes.
Cool, don’t care. Still want the other runes buffed and/or reworked completely and some even outright replaced.
If you’re not going to make a thread asking for your class’ runes to be overhauled and fixed the have fun suffering garbage rune design but I’m going to actually be proactive and demanding that the developers balance the runes. I simply want viability.
“oh but everything is fine one of your specs is X in DPS” is not a valid argument to me. I said it before and I’ll say it again if Hunters were given some amazing utility runes that changed how we played then I’d be fine dropping down with all specs to the middle DPS rankings. But we weren’t given such runes. We were given mostly damage oriented runes and with them we’re barely inching ahead of tanks’ DPS for crying out loud. That is not acceptable.
Hunters are horrible in PvE if we do not take the joke that melee hunters are into consideration. They are literally below tanks. PvP doesn’t matter, it comprises 3% of an normal player’s game time. So yeah ranged hunters need a huge numerical buff
But I will still play it as long as they do not touch the core class design and do not introduce abilities that need clicking
Actually next phase we’ll get Focused Fire I think which ‘technically’ requires clicking. I suppose you could just pick TNT if you want to use Explosive Shot or Trap Launcher but those are also more abilities to click.
That is bad. BM is a minion spec. It should be centered around the player buffing the minion, not the other way around. I would prefer a rune that would automatically consume my multishot cooldown and redirect it to the pet so that I can stand and watch
Well it also buffs the pet. Pets get a stacking attack speed bonus which you can consume to get attack speed too, then it will begin stacking up its attack speed again.
So you could just leave its buff stack alone and not consume it I guess.
It’s not from the rune, it’s a baseline Vanilla talent

Would really like to see just % buffs to the spec that is already great, preferably revert the phase 1 pet nerf and cut hunter pet damage to players so that PvP perverts don’t whine

When I read this prior to phase 2 release I assumed it meant the Ferocity talent. If it actually gives a new pet buff then it’s great news brother. I’ll just never click the active part of the rune lol
the problem with ranged hunter atm is that there is obviously no plan. It is a compilation of random ideas that dont work together. While the melee spec is very successful due to the 3 rune synergy, the ranged one is very limitied due to terrible waist and leg runes and the mandatory chest lion rune so all we get pretty much is trap launcher and chimera shot
Yeah , or , make it that the hunter gain a % of his AP into spell power.
Hunter is so neglected and messed up that ideas are very easy to find if we want to fix it. So many problems , which means even more solutions.
The lion rune on chest is a joke. Not that some utility is bad , but it means that in a raid you are forced to use it. Making all other chest rune useless even if they were good. Make it a book spell and remove the additional 10 % it gives to the hunter.
Best mastery should obviously be on chest. It is the opposite of lone wolf so it makes a lot of sense.
Give a proc on something to reduce/cancel the aimed shot cast. It was on retail and it gave some dynamic to the class. Proc on auto shot ? Proc on steady shot ? Give steady shot a 50 % chance to take 1.5 sec out of aimed shot cast and half the mana , cumulative 2 times. Also the steady shot clipping you autoshot to do 60% of damage ? No thanks. Do you even tested it and released it thinking it was a good idea ?
As I said , MM is so bad , you can be wild with buffing without making it OP.

yeah nah your class is good as it is ,i’d say too good
If range hunter become top tier raid dps you might as well rename WoW to WoH
“hey, these runes aren’t particularly good as other runes outclass them and I’d like them moved around and reworked so that they are all fun to play with”
And then we get someone trollposting that because Hunters are good in X way it doesn’t matter if they aren’t good in Y way and we’re just oh so darn entitled because we want the runes that they’ve given us to be more valid choices and we should be happy that we’re corralled into one set of runes because they’re the only valid ones worth using.

Dunno why you’re being so hostile here. These guys are trying to offer suggestions to clearly lacklustre and unexciting runes, instead of hating on them and saying “warriors have it worse cry me a river” maybe think about how blizzard could improve warrior game play like these guys are doing.
Most of the time when posts like this are created the content is actually given in a way that would sit well within the mix of the rest of the game, not game breaking.
I also dout hunter is the fastest to level. Mage is hands down considerably faster to level.
I can’t understand why you have to come here and criticise this when they are looking at ways to improve the class in a balanced way?
