So potentially 3- 4 months away? Still plenty of time to implement the MT appearances + a fully scaled Mage Tower.
I wonder why they announced their removal at all? Admittedly, I’m not a marketing whizz but - surely they would have been better saying nothing about it instead of dampening the hype for many.
Probably for the vocal minority that wished to keep those appeareances locked to make them feel better, which in turn cause even more people who want to see these cosmetics re-added, not for the sense of prestige, but just for the sake of having a transmog useable or druid forms, which for 90% came from legion itself.
By majority do you mean the loud minority of people who spend more time on the forums that playing the game?
I’ll be honest with you. I have really enjoyed playing WoW over the years. I have really enjoy the challenges that it brings. I like to work towards the rewards at the end of the challenges.
whilst I don’t have the MT appearances or the Mists CM sets because I was AFK during that time. I have managed to collect most of the KSM and the one KSL Mount.
My first KSM took alot of dedication and hard work to bring myself to the level of play to be able to obtain it. It’s my favourite mount, not because of how it looks (although it looks amazing!), but it reminds me of the feeling I had when I finally completed that challenge and it has set me on a path of hitting those challenges each and every time.
When I saw there was a 2.5k reward in DF, it pushed me to work towards that. I loved those appearances when I unlocked them. But now I find it hard to show them off, because last week some guy when and killed Mythic Razagath with 2 or 3 friends and get the reward for none of the work and commitment I put into getting 2.5k.
That feels really bad a someone who worked hard to obtain that. My reward has become worthless. If that KSM mount became publicly available to any old noob, it would completely devalue the efforts I put into obtaining it. Because when I see another one around, I won’t know whether that player just overpowered the content or actually put the work into playing the game.
That really makes me wonder whether it’s worth playing the game at all. Working towards the reward is what makes the game fun.
Now, appreciate you probably don’t care, you are likely more interested in how to dress your High (void) Elf, and do RP with your friends.
But that’s not how I play the game. It’s not how the game was played 20 years, and it’s not how many many players play the game today.
This is exactly the same as looting mythic mounts after a few years. You had all the DF and the first season of TWW to show off and look cool ahead of the others. If your fun comes from knowing the others will not enjoy things you do for years, if not forever, this only proves the point that was being made here many times over. That while some people just want to enjoy the game, the others wish them not to. At least you have dignity to say it openly. But then don’t pretend that you care about the others, or the health of the game. All you want is to see the others suffer, no matter the cost.
If people want certain appearances back, then they should have to do the same level of work that those before them, also did and it’s not really that difficult on Blizzard’s end.
For Mage Tower - just scale it to Level 45, like in the main game, so the challenge is still there. It can’t be scaled to Level 80 because then people can just walk in and walk out again and that part isn’t fair.
Scale it to Level 45, so the challenge is still there.
Alternatively, you could have it at level 80 and roflstomp Mage Tower, but you don’t gain the appearances. You gain the achievement for doing Mage Tower during Remix, but you don’t gain the appearances.
We’ve got to remember exactly what Blizzard said in MoP. They want to see crazy amount of DPS in the Mythic+
You can’t scale Mage Tower to be a challenge if people are doing crazy dps. It must be scaled down, so the challenge is still there, if you want it.
I’m not saying every reward has to be time-limited.
But this was a Feat of Strength. It was sold as a Seasonal Reward. So why isn’t it a Seasonal Reward.
We were encouraged to push to a higher level, for no reason.
Unfortunately, that’s not possible anymore.
The game changes, the balancing changes, the classes change. The game is no longer the same, the challenge is different.
Thats why when the MT came back, they had to change the rewards.
Also they were advertising buying Legion as “get the MT appearances before they disappear forever”. So bringing them back would mean that they were false advertising. I would probably say that this is the most likely reason why they won’t bring them back.
You could say that those wishing to keep the rewards blocked is a loud minority as well, expecially since the people who are against the MT skins being locked are more or lesss always the same, while there’s more and more people adding up who want to see these appeareances back.
Personally, to me it’s good that it’s obtainable by others. i got KSM and KSH from S1 of DF onwards, and don’t really feel bad seeing others having my same mount or the same mythic effects from the armor sets. It makes me happy to see new players can still earn those things now, allows them to express themselves better with their characters, invent new combinations of armor etc. The same for a keystone master mount, my first Keystone master was DF season 1, and whenter i see people who genuely like the mount, and can’t obtain it anymore because they didn’t play, it just feels unjust for them and saddens me.
It’s not fair that just because they couldn’t play back then, they can’t get things now.
People aren’t asking for the appeareances to be handed to them. It would be kind if they did so, but we are asking for there to be a way to obtain them. It could be from the current iteration of the mage tower, which is harder than legion’s own, so it would still preserve the work towards the reward.
What’s wrong with RP? It’s just another aspect of the game that many people very dedicated to the franchise enjoy, it’s an form of content that is auto-sustainable. As a roleplayer, i care alot for these cosmetics, because they allow me to shape my character and make it look like i want it to be. Also, just because a person roleplays, it doesn’t mean they don’t enjoy the challenge
you’re right, it’s not how the game was played 20 years ago. the game has evolved and changed, and so has it’s community. More people are detesting FOMO more and more, because it’s non-player friendly. A lot of people quit during Shadowlands, and DF attracted other people into the game.
cool, then re-structure the mage tower accordingly for each class for it to be as challenging as it was mid-antorus tier. That will preserve the challenge.
Acquiring the shinies through M+ or PvP was seasonal. You did it the time-restricted way, but there was no mention that getting it from the raid would be impossible after the season 1. But you still have the achievement for reaching the high rating, don’t you? You can always enjoy the fact that you were good when it mattered.
Not to mention, if they allow people to get old rewards, it would incentivise more people to do all content. PVP would have people playing more, M+ would have more people doing keys etc. It just gives people an extra incentive to play the game. i don’t see how that can be bad.
The only one doing the sacrifice is the ones who already have it though?
Scaling it is not a sacrifice since the original owners gains nothing from it but they gain everything.
So its a weird word to say in an argument.
With the sacrifice logic, it would be that the original owners should let SOME of them come back, maybe 2-3 of the colors (which means no recolors then since its pointless and not needed) so the original owners still have any unique color.
So the complainers who wants EVERYTHING still cant get everything.
And the defenders gets to atleast defend something.
Well it is in some ways because the MT is already scaled down in the main game, for people who want those transmogs.
And the difficulty is still there.
I’m not one who wants people to just walk in, blast the bosses with insane dps and walk out 30 seconds later with everything that someone else had, when that someone else had to take the time and truly learn the fight/s.
But it’s give and take. So, I think the people who want the appearances back SHOULD have to face similar challenges which are almost reflective of 2018.
Blizzard have said this in May. They want to see crazy dps and things basically going insane, which is fine…but you can’t do that with the MT if everybody is going insane with dps…the MT challenge is no longer a challenge.
The only way to correct this course is to scale it down to the same level as the main game and that is, level 45.
You’re making alot of assumptions about me there. First off, I usually barely ever spend time in these forums, only when i really want to put my viewpoint out there. Last time I reacted to anything on these forums was last year when the MoP remix had me frustrated because of false advertisement, before then it was years since I last posted here.
I have played this game on and off since TBC and have over 20k hours in the game. I used to do Mythic raiding and M+ but now there’s too many tasks I have to do in order to keep up with it and with chronic illnesses I don’t have the energy to sit through a 3 hour raid multiple times a week anymore.
Assuming I’m a RP’er and making that a negative comment, I am not and even if I was it wouldn’t give my opinion less value after all this is a RP game, MMORPG actually has it in the genre name.
Yes I do like to dress up my characters and have them look pretty while I go about doing other content, that can be an option without negating your experience.
You keep missing the point of how I’m trying to speak for those that aren’t coming to these forums to voice their opinions, i told my friend that the mage tower appearances won’t be part of Lemix and she’s like well then there’s no point in playing that, she wanted the warglaives from it because they fit her felfire themed character, another friend playing druid and wants the ghost kitty which is arguably the coolest feral druid form in the game with no alternative. What do you get out of limiting others choices? Why can’t these things be brought back as a new challenge reward so it can still be worked towards. Hell, they could lock those mage towers with the gear and builds available at the time make it a lobby you enter to set up your character with the available things at the time and let people try the challenges for themselves with the way things were back then, it wouldn’t require retuning all the time as it would be locked to previous level and power but still be available.
And your feeling of whether it’s worth playing the game at all, it’s how new players feel when they come in and see cool stuff they will never ever be able to obtain because it has to fulfill some prestige slot for players that had the time and were playing when it was current content. Again, I already have these. Now just try to put yourself in the other position and see things from new and returning standpoint, do we want the game to eventually run out of new players? Do we want the players that come back once in a while (I’m one of those) to keep coming back or just stay away forever because of some FOMO and gatekeeping? Or do we want the game to improve so we have better systems in the future?
We’ll never know though, because there aren’t any statistics other than the fact Blizzard deem it necessary to continue to include Time Limited Cosmetics for completing Challenges.
It’s not about others having them. It makes me happy to see others have them, because I know that they worked hard to get them.
I would rather encourage new players to play the game.
See this isn’t important to me. This is not what brought me to WoW, and this is not what keeps me here.
Sure I enjoy Transmog. But mostly it’s about the game play, and earning the top rewards. So getting rewarded for completing challenges and being able to flex my achievements 2, 3, 4 or 10 years down the line is important.
I don’t see why it’s even important to have rewards that you didn’t earn.
There are plenty of rewards in the game now, just work towards those, and you’ll understand why it’s such a great feeling to have them.
I disagree. I think most of the people here would like it just given to them. Sure some would complete the challenge. But most here don’t care about the gameplay, they only care about RP.
Beside, if they really want to do the challenge it won’t be long until Legion Classic.
Well it’s not really playing the game, is it. I mean, sure if that’s what you’re into fine. But those “players” don’t respect the time and dedication put into earning these rewards.
The don’t care about the value people find in getting rewarded for hard work.
We all hate FOMO. But a time-limited reward for completing a challenge during a set time scale is not FOMO.
If I start training for the 2028 Olympics now, I have a chance at a gold medal. But, I don’t want to do it now, OMG FOMO!
That just doesn’t sit.
FOMO is saying “We’re selling the Tyraels charger on the shop, you have 2 weeks to buy it if you want it”.
I agree the community is changing. But the old players are still there. They might just not be as active on social media.
That sounds like way too much work. That would have to be updated every Season. No thanks, I would rather Blizzard concentrate on new content.
I’m not making any assumptions about you personally.
When I say “You”, I assume I am talking to what I have perceived to be the average Forum dweller.
when you share an opinion on these forums which goes against the grain, you get responses from many many different people, and all people jumping in at different points of the conversations. It’s difficult to treat every response as an individual. I have had so many responses, I don’t even remember you starting a conversation with me. It’s alot to handle, and is probably the reason why more people don’t share their opinions on the forums about the bad choices Blizzard have been making.
And many time, you have more people responding to you, so you don’t find time to read to walls of text (like your one that I’m responding to).
I’m sorry if it comes across that I have made assumptions about you. I’m merely just pushing my opinion on this topic. I have heard every single response on this topic over the years, and you’ll never sway me to think any differently.
