And here I wish they’d bring back the “sort bags automatically” option that appeared in the Dragonflight beta but was removed before the release of the pre-patch 
WoW inventory is a cluttered-overdesigned-non-informative-icon hell, so the less I have to babysit those icons, the better.
But as others have said, you’ll have to re-do everything yourself and switch all bags to “IGNORE THIS BAG” so that the button doesn’t do anything anymore.
You know it won’t take a decade to rearrange them again, maybe an hour at most. And now that you know you can just disable the cleanup option.

Rearrange it again? If you spill your milk over the table you ask for table/milk refund?
Like that is what we enjoy doing?
What part of ‘Clean up bags’ implies that such an action would be as counterproductive as spilling milk?
You think it is hysterical that the part of me that likes my living space to be tidily organised also likes my in-game inventory to be tidily and organised?
You are not short of bad comparisons. If you really are apathic towards lore characters you care about, do you truly care about them?
As for players… I hate to break it to you, but players don’t really die ingame as long as the spirit healers are around.

This is literally minutes of effort, while waiting for GM response OP would rearranged everything 99 times.
The same part that implies clicking it is something bad that needs to be made thread about.
That doesn’t makes it fun or enjoyable.

Why are you even keeping up with that mismatching analogy. Everyone can look at a mug of milk and understand that it is not good to interact with the mug in such a way that it creates unintentional spilling. The same cannot be said about a button named ‘Clean up bags’.
Button did exactly what it had to do and what is this thread about? What do you expect? 30 days of free game time? CEO’s apology? Free mythic item? Happened, rearrange items and learn lesson to not click it, someone suggested addon, problem completely solved. If it’s not fun to rearrange then don’t do it. If you want things ordered exactly the way you want then do it. First world problems really. Accept consequences of your own actions and stop flooding forums with imaginary problems. Over.
You know, last night I saw this and thought “But there’s no way I have any recent screenshots of my bags, I barely take in game screenshots as it is!”
But I checked this morning and, well, what do you know? I have one from when I was trying to record names of AH bots.
So sincerely, thanks an absolute bunch 
And yes, I do understand that this is a silly little thing to be concerned about… It’s just part of the comfort of playing a game you’ve played for over half your life, and the memories you’ve had in it

The button does the lousy job it is programmed to do without being transparent about what it actually is doing.

Plz I have problem with Wild Soul illusion. I have unlocked and I can’t use it to any NPC and in my collection is shown collected with red border. Plz dont waste GM 's time with such nonsense.
You can also set the bags to be exempt from ‘clean up’ in the standard UI.

And having move pixels around again to reorder them.

You could rearrange ur bags, faster then any GMs going to reply to you.

Absolutely this, more than once in fact.
Yeah, one in an ocean of examples of bad design. And as usual, another damn addon has to fix the design flaw:

Don’t get me started on swapping bag types and what it does to its contents!
