Hello people!I am a relatively new healer and I have tried my first cn normal/heroic runs. After seeing the logs of my character, I understood that I suck… Badly.
It seems to me that I panic, I forget half my abilities and I just spam healing surge. Can you give me some advice? Should I use riptide on CD always? Should I use healing wave instead of surge? Whenever I try to use healing wave other healers seem to be faster and I end up overhealing.
If any1 wants to check my logs just search ogopogo eu dentarg! Every feedback is welcome!
Riptide on cd, Healing Rain on cd, Cloudburst on cd. You need to make weakauras for these. Chain heal in emergency situations. I dunno if this is a viable strategy for mythic, but up to heroic it will paint your logs purple.
Also rotate your major cds for damage pikes.
Healing wave heals more than healing surge, and costs less mana. So you don’t want to be panicking and spamming Healing Surge. I generally keep my Healing Surges for when someone is genuinely going to die or the group is falling apart, and I don’t have enough Tidal Waves to get the cast speed reduction on Healing Wave.
I wanted to play a shammy alt on the side, and had a few question instead of opening another topic wanted to ask maybe here, i see shamans got a LOT of the spells cross spec, so basically elemental and resto overlap by a lot.
How does resto play how much dps you realistically do ? Both in pvp and pve ? How much is really asked from you ? i mean not top of the top, but on a good level, what dmg do you weave in ? if any at all ?
Because to be frank i aint got enough key binds for all the shammy stuff, so gimme the real life experience.
Thanks
If you seriously don’t have enough binds then the most vital DPS keybinds would be Flame shock and Lava Burst - keep up flame shock on a target and use instant lava burst procs.
I sit around 700-800 DPS when I’m healing the majority of the time, but I can go up to 1.5k-2k+ when I’m outright DPSing when no one is taking damage and I’m chain lightning, flameshock and lavabursting.
I’d recommend investing in one of these if you’re struggling for binds

I’ve had mine for the best part of 5 years, and it’s still working perfectly, and all of my damage rotation+ghost wolf+Interrupt is bound to it. Very easy to set up.
lava burst procs and flame shock got it.
About keybinds i was joking mostly, that there are too many and obviously you need to pick some spells. I mean come on there is a melee strike, you dont really need usually all of them.
You don’t need Primal Strike on your bars
Many good tips here. But I wanna point out a few things that helpt me.
- Practice makes perfect. Keep practicing rotation and when to use what
- Look over addons and keybinds. Find solutions and keybinds that work for you. Then practice them until they sit in your fingertips
- Take time to look up guides or streamers that play the class as you. Figure out what they are doing and pick up the parts you like.
- Don’t make idiots in lfd/r break your spirit. You can do this!
- Practice makes perfect and it takes time! Redo point 4 if you ever feel like applying scizors to a powersocket.

General tips as mentioned

- make sure to keep earth shield up on 1 of the tanks at all times

I saw on your normal runs on last boss you used chain heal as primary. Better not. Get weakauras for Tidal Waves and Swirling Currents and cloudburst on all the time and healing and play with Riptides and Healing Waves or Surges. You can use 1 chain heal if you have no riptide to procc Tidal Waves without the delay of GCD
