So I bought the Sha-infused heroic pack. Sorry the mounts and the pet , couldn’t resist.
Am I a shill now ? Have I worsened the game ? Have I highlighted to blizz it’s okay to remove game content and stick it behind a cash store ? Did my actions makes wow a worse game. Does it impact the game short term or longterm ?
Blizzard haven’t increased the sub price since I’ve started playing. I’m fine with them compensating by adding recolors of mounts to an ingame store and people buying them if they feel inclined to do so.
Why i made this topic is actually from backlash from my guildmates saying
they could have made new quests and achieves tied to those mounts and pets , items , mogs . Increasing content and player satisfaction. Given us a reason to go back to MoP. Make the world feel alive.
But they know rats like you will $$$ up for them.
So got me thinking ? Am I hurting the game ?
I just curious to hear peoples thoughts on it.
Isn’t the MoP pack kinda like an expansion pack Blizz has been doing for a while now?
Blizz will still add more stuff to the store anyways. Sure, there’s the argument that Blizz adds stuff on the shop cause people buy them but we are so deep down the rabbit hole right now that I don’t think it matters too much at this point.
Nah, you’re good. The only thing that changed is that your pockets are slightly lighter, and your heart is slightly warmer. Be happy of your purchase, people saying it’s detrimental to the game are making stuff up.
If the store went away today, we wouldn’t get any more quests, mounts or other pieces of content than the absolute plethora we already have.
If anything, the game being more profitable is good.
But nobody should worry about stuff like this, one way or the other. At the end of the day, a company sold a thing, you liked the thing, so you bought the thing. That’s all there is to it. It’s a transaction like any other.
I swear if people made as much of a fuss over wage stagnation, instead of playing revolutionary over a Warcraft mount, we’d be living in a much better world.
Are Blizz climbing on monetizing a lot more things? Absolutely.
Could they be spending a bit more effort putting things in game that are included with the sub? Absolutely.
Do they have a right to earn a profit from their skill and imagination as a game maker? Absolutely.
The people berating you are on one extreme end of the spectrum, they are in a weird spot where they will spunk money on a sub and happily play the game but then vociferously hate on anything Blizz does even though by playing the game they are supporting it. How they reconcile that in their minds would take many therapists to unravel.
I personally think that Blizz are too far down the $$$ path atm at the cost of satisfaction etc but I respect other peoples choices to make decisions different to ones from me.
I don’t think pointing the finger at other players and blaming/shaming them is the way to go. I do have issues with shops in games if it feels as if it is just done ‘because they can’, not as a way to support the game. With WoW I have some questions regarding that, I’ve gotten the impression over the years it’s more the former and in that case I’d rather see those things obtainable through in game content.
But you know, another player is free to buy them, and to have their own opinions about this.
Just ask yourself, why would Blizz put work, money and time to make content for the game when players just buy everything from Shop. Thanks to the players that are using the Shop, the Shop became so big.
Why should they make content for the game, if it’s easier to put stuff in the shop, easy money for blizz.
There’s plenty fan boys here that will pat you on the back if thats what your after, and company shills on forums (its be exposed before, blizz actively do this)
Players are openly buying everything else why you bothered what others think?
Let be real here …Its world of RMT not world of warcraft, everything is for sale, at one shop or another.
Do you feel like the game is worth paying that for a cartoon mount and that you should reward the devs/company for all their actions in regards to the game?
With the amount of effort they put into cata and (yet to be seen how much effort for mop) only you can decide that TBH
They have zero interest in putting out a quality product, only milking cows, sorry their player base.
Personally If I had to pay for a even a sub I wouldn’t play wow, blizz are profiteering scum, nothing else.
Sadly the cash made from mounts doesn’t benefit the game in anyway shape or form, it’s purely to line shareholders pockets, not to build funds for game improvements.
But if a magic dragon mount makes you smile like a child go for it you seem to be their target audience, and not your wise guilld mates
Here is the thing people don’t realise.
The shop is what keeps the game in the black.
Yeah subs and expansion sales keep the lights on, but the real money comes from the extra sales.
I purchace from the shop whenever I can/want the item.
the real problem is most likely, HOW many people actually buying those products
take starcraft2 as an example. why should they put so much time/work/money into it, when they can make a goofy looking spectral horse in under 2 Hours what makes more money than Starcraft 2? its just capitalism
if you like the item what blizz offers on the store, buy it if u feel like u have to or want this item, because its your money, and at the end 1 more people wont change anything, because TOO many people buying this kind of stuff
look alone at the 90$ Auctionhouse mount, blizz made with this Mount more money than with the actual expansion, and before someone says “i bought it with gold”
YES you bought wow tokens, what someone previously bought for real money which an abysmal high fee when u transfer it to Bnet points
so at the end, its your money do whatever u want with that, and keep in mind, 1 player more wont change anything so you are fine and dont feel bad.
I brought it as well, I wanted the tiger. While I agree it would be nice to have the store items available in game from quests, I don’t mind buying the occasional thing from the store. As others have stated the subscription price has been static for a long time and if store purchases are enabling that I would say it’s a good thing.
I do wonder if they’re shooting themselves in the foot a little with the shear amount of shop stuff. A few years ago I picked up most of the pets and mounts from the store as they were added. In the last year I only picked up the charity pet and the MoP classic set. Too much stuff has been added and for me it’s killed the FOMO.
Not sure why your guild-mates would say such a thing.
Every hobby costs money. I did spend about 200 euros today on models and paint.
Does that mean I cater to the greed of the company that makes them? Absolutely.
Does it make me happy? Yeah!
Dont worry about it to much. Do what makes you happy. You only live once, make the most of it.
