I bought WOW tokens... can't use them like I wanted

Hello,

I just bought 9 WOW tokens, thinking I could store my gold in tokens so inflation would not devalue it. I now find that I can’t trade the tokens, I can’t sell the tokens, I can’t do any of the things I wanted to do with them. I can only use them to get game time, I wanted to trade 1 or two to my friend, I can’t even do that so he can get some gametime too.

It’s a complete waste of gold… hard earned gold. I need either a refund or to be able to sell these tokens back on the AH. I need a solution. I also opened a ticket but it says 12 days until a reply. Please help.

That I suspect goes to “Learning experience” for you. It is usually good idea to read and understand what the items can be used for before purchasing them. In case of WoW token when purchasing for gold it clearly says they are “Bind on pickup” and “Adds 30 days of game time to your WoW account or 13€ forto your Blizzard balance.” (currency amount viarable depending what currency you use).

You can convert them to Blizzard balance and use it to purchase stuff in the battle net shop (not gear store). Games, expansion, in-game items, services etc.

If you want to sell tokens for gold you need to purchase them for money, not for gold. And they can only be selled on the Blizzard auction house, not directly to other players.

Boss I spent more than 2 million gold. That’s more gold than I ever spent on the game. I think I need to quit the game if this ends up being a learning experience.

At least if a GM could help me give out 2 tokens to a friend to extend his gametime too…

You can convert two tokens to Blizzard balance and use it to purchase game time for your friend. Game Time can be gifted. Note “Game Time” is different than recurring subscription. Subscription cannot be paid using Blizzard balance but game time can.

Grelier I appreciate your suggestions but I hope for something better than converting an item they sell for 20 euros into 13 euros. That’s simply a scam.

Well, you were not the one who paid 20 euros for it. You paid in-game gold for your token which is worth 30 days or 13 euros.

Converting to Blizzard balance or using them as game time are the only options, though obviously you are welcome to open ticket and ask for a refund but I doubt that happens as the player whose tokens you ended up buying already received the gold.

Eh I decided to turn them into account balance. I guess diablo 4 is free for me.

Checking in here but Blizzard intentionally made the WoW token this way to prevent re-selling.

No scam occured, you bought WoW tokens for gold and received them.

Eh tokens shouldn’t exist, gold farmers should be banned by a large team of support real people who should hunt them down. The token is simply made to make blizzard money. Everything they do is purely for money, nothing else, nothing.

It’s no surprise a capitalistic company for profit does things for money, that said the token was made to combat goldsellers and to facilitate a safe method of buying/selling gold for real money in an authorised manner and to allow players to buy more Blizzard products.

It reached its intended goal, since you too bought D4 with gold tokens by turning them into balance.

Botters are still banwaved, it just takes time do it the thorough way and will continue until the end of times.

There is no scam, even the smallest amount of research would have told you what you wanted to know.

This is a you mistake not a Blizzard mistake, you should never assume anything.

Yeah, or well 180€ ≠=free
