After the latest update i can’t launch the game i’m stuck on the launcher. When i click play nothing happens.

I can confirm this issue, after following every step on the support articles, the launcher refuses to update the client. It will just say that it is waiting on another update.

My local friends and I having the same issue. Stucked at initializing and wont update. I guess no dragon for us today guys
Wouldn’t run for me either, so I just went around the launcher and used the game’s .exe. That worked, though halfway through character creation the launcher caught up and launched an additional game client.
Btw, this is just retail. Classic, beta, ptr are launching perfectly.
Mine took a long time to launch the game after today’s update. I went and made a cup of coffee, and the game was loaded when I got back.
After the second phase update my game is launching as a background process and i can’t do anything about it.
After 8-12min it “wakes” up and run the game normally but it’s freaking annoying:/

Just a lil bump to check if people are still experiencing issues, I’m in a permanent loop of the game “Scanning game files” and when it reaches 100% it goes to initialising and then goes through the “Scanning game files” again. It’s been 5 loops already x)
Can you stop the loop? If not, wait until the next time it’s finished, immediately kill the launcher, and start the game from the installation folder. The Wow.exe is in the _retail_ folder where the game’s installed. You’ll have to manually input your password, but assuming the game is all patched up, you’ll be able to play.
I backed up the game files, reinstalled the game and copied over my WTF folder and everything worked fine now ^^
