I’m playing Cataclysm Classic / MoP pre-patch and just finished farming all the reputations required for the Insane in the Membrane achievement. Here’s what I have so far:
Bloodsail Buccaneers – Honored
Booty Bay – Exalted
Everlook – Exalted
Gadgetzan – Exalted
Ratchet – Exalted
Darkmoon Faire – Exalted
Ravenholdt – Exalted
I have screenshot proof of this—happy to share if needed.
As many of you likely remember, Shen’dralar was removed as a required reputation for this achievement back in original Cataclysm. That change was widely documented in official patch notes and community sources. It was replaced with a Feat of Strength called “Agent of the Shen’dralar.”
Despite this, Blizzard Support keeps giving me conflicting info. Some GMs say the achievement was removed entirely (which is false), and others say I still need Shen’dralar (also false). I’ve submitted tickets and bug reports, but the replies keep referencing outdated info or guides for Classic Era or Retail.
Some relevant info that backs this up (for those who want to look it up):
The WoWHead article titled “Shen’dralar Reputation No Longer Required for Insane in the Membrane”
Blizzard’s official blog post about patch 4.0.3a, which confirms Shen’dralar is no longer required
Wowpedia’s page on “Shen’dralar” – explains how it was removed and turned into a Feat of Strength in Cataclysm
Even one of the Cataclysm Classic Wowhead news posts originally claimed the achievement was removed, but they later updated it to say it’s still obtainable (and Shen’dralar is not required).
Has anyone successfully completed “The Insane” in Cataclysm Classic recently?
Did it award correctly without Shen’dralar?
If you’ve also been blocked by support or had trouble getting the achievement to register, please chime in. Any visibility or shared experiences would help.
Thanks in advance — I just want the achievement I’ve clearly earned!
i made the same experience. I reached the necessary rep with a single char and also at the same time and did not get the Feat of Strength “Insane in the membrane” + title.
Unfortunately the support only answers, that a failure in the achievement system is not known and that i should wait for the final MOP release. Hopefully it get’s fixed soon.
Hey, thanks for the reply. It’s frustrating to hear you’ve had the same experience, but also kind of validating to know I’m not alone in this.
I agree that their responses so far have felt pretty dismissive. Saying “no known issue” doesn’t really hold up when multiple players are reporting the exact same thing. And telling us to wait for MoP’s full release just seems like a stall, especially since this achievement is tied to Cataclysm content that should already be functional.
Hopefully if enough of us speak up, it’ll get the attention it deserves. I’ve submitted bug reports and tickets already, but maybe with more people reporting it, they’ll finally take a real look.
Hey Marfushka, thanks for your input, glad that you got it without issues.
Blizzard has confirmed that it’s a bug introduced with the MoP-prepatch that’s incorrectly checking for the Shen’dralar reputation.
— IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR EVERYONE —
I wanted to share some good news for anyone else running into this! Blizzard finally confirmed the following:
The “Insane in the Membrane” achievement IS earnable in Mists of Pandaria Classic.
There IS indeed a bug where the achievement is incorrectly still requiring Shen’dralar reputation, despite that requirement being officially removed in Cataclysm.
A fix is planned by the development team in a future patch to remove the Shen’dralar requirement. Once this fix is live, players should automatically receive the achievement upon logging in, provided all other criteria are met.
So, for anyone who’s been blocked, rest assured it’s a confirmed bug and a fix is on the way.
Hey everyone,
I saw a lot of informations about this achievement and it’s hard to make the difference between whats true and whats not. So I will ask my questions here. No offense, but i dont care about your « back then » and « when the achievement was still hard » so answer only if you know how it works on MoP Classic !
Is the bug from prepatch (Shendralar needed) still a thing ? Any idea when they will fix it ?
Is the title account wide or only the character who made it ?
Does it count if you start with the 4 goblin reps and then ruin them with Bloodsail grind ? I dont care being hated by goblins but i’m really affraid doing it this way and dont get the achievement.
Thanks a lot for your answers! If you got extra advices, I will take them with pleasure !
Damn… that’s such a shame! When you know how long it takes to grind it! I’m around 33% rn.
Blizzard fix it please! Insane people are dedicated enough to get your attention I guess!!!
I would not even attempt to get a Blizz response in 2025. It’s just a waste of your time and energy. When Firemaw was having broken layers, I tried making reports about it. Just to get completely off topic replies about my computer overheating and that they’re sorry my hardcore character died. I don’t think tickets are being read by actual humans, and certainly not someone that has any knowledge whatsoever about this game.
All you can do as a customer in 2025 is to just wait and patiently and pray, I guess.
Their statement at the moment: At the moment, this specific Achievement isn’t obtainable due to a known issue involving the Shen’dralar reputation being incorrectly required. This is not intended, and our teams are already working on a fix to resolve it as quickly as possible.
The good news is that once the issue is resolved, the Achievement should trigger automatically for anyone who has the correct reputations active on their character at that time.
Because of how the tracking works, we highly recommend keeping your current reputations unchanged. Swapping reputations now may interrupt progress, and in that case, the criteria would need to be completed again after the fix is applied.
We really appreciate your patience and understanding while this is being addressed. Thank you for taking the time to contact us about this. If there’s anything else you’re curious about or need help with, please don’t hesitate to reach out again.
Because changing one line of code in the version of the game that doesn’t make enough $ is absolutely unjustifiable. No one wants this achievement anyway. We absolutely LOVE farming old content for the sake of it.
