I dont know where to go next

i have a blood elf fury warrior , hit level 40 today and finished arathi , i dont know where to go next , from what i know , most of the southern area is alliance , so i warped to orgrimmar but i dont really know which area i should go to in kalimdor , also , does the game guide me through the expansion areas ( MoP , legion etc ) once i hit the right level for them (like , have a quest pop up including a mission mark in the right area ) , or do i have to go there myself once im like level 70 or 90 ?

i could still do the plaguelands and hinterlands but i didnt really like those zones on my hunter , i really havent done anything in kalimdor at all , since i only played blood elfs and humans so far , so i would rather explore that area before im too high level , i just dont know what zones i should go to first

opening the map and hovering the mouse over a zone shows it recommended levels. at 40, you could go to eastern plaguelands and thousand needles.

well , almost all of kalimdor is something -60 , the problem is that i kinda want to do a fun zone , i really liked the eversong woods for example , same with arathi , i kinda like areas that have interesting places to explore , like castles, towns etc, and plaguelands didnt really have any of that

My favorite zones for leveling, interesting places to explore and stories would be;

  1. Silverpine Forest (Good looking zone and story)
    The forsaken preparing and attacking Gilneas
  2. Stonetalon Mountains (Not the fanciest zone, but I like the story)
    Delivering a bomb across the zone
  3. Cape of Stranglethorn (Cool jungle and story)
    Infiltrating the Bloodsail Buccaneers for the Steamwheedle Cartel

silverpine forest was fun as well , thanks , i will look for the other 2 zones on the map

When you hit 60, you will get a quest asking whether you want to go to Outland or Northrend. Those two cover 60-80.

When you hit 80 and visit Orgrimmar, you get a couple of quests to start Cataclysm or Pandaria.

And so on.

For now …

On the EK side:

Eastern Plaguelands has Fiona’s Caravan and Darrowshire, which are among the best stories pre-60.

Badlands has the questline of Rhea’s Egg, which is quite powerful. And you are nearby Blackrock, which is certainly worth a look.

Kalimdor:

I love everything in Kalimdor.

Winterspring ambiance is amazing.

Un’goro has dinosaurs, and a crazy Don Quixote type, and your first hints about the origin of life on Azeroth.

Stonetalon makes me a bit uncomfortable as Horde, but has an amazing ending, Many Orcs - Handle It!

Thousand Needles is water, with high spires, and gives you a ship to sail in.

All worth seeing!

You should try thousand needles. It’s the best cata zone in my opinion.

At level 40 you can do almost any of the zones in Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms as they scale to your level up to level 60. I’d highly suggest you to go in Hillsbrad Foothills and at least do the Johnny Awesome questline, if you have not done that yet

If you don’t know where to go, go the capital and look for a warboards. Those will suggest you new zones and even provides you an initial quest that will lead into the selected zone.

Edit: and with Warboards I mean of course the Warchief’s Command Board (for Horde players) and Hero’s Callboard (for Alliance players)

I’d stick to the plaguelands for now. Nice stories.

At level 40 you can go to any Classic zone I think.

Can I suggest ghostlands if you haven’t done it already.

i have fully beaten ghostlands sadly , was a fun zone

Try to use Warchief Command Board in Orgrimmar or a War Board in any zone are currently in. just go to the biggest town for that zone and you will find the board near or inside the inn. It will suggest you 3 zones you can go to choose from. You will get a short backstory and a button to start a quest for that zone. You can use magnifying glass near mnimap to enable tracking War Boards, then they will show on your minimap.

Alternatively you can look in Adventure Journal(Shift-J) for some zone suggestions.

Feralas and Felwood are probably my top picks, also Winterspring like someone mentioned. Can’t say if you’ll enjoy the quests or not but the atmosphere is :ok_hand:

im currently running through the zones leading to winterspring , and honestly , those areas look awesome , what race starts in ashenvale and felwood normaly ? or could i theoretically go there early as a blood elf ( i like playing as elves in games , they always look cool ) i really want to experience those areas , and i kinda think i will outlevel the 3 zones if i do quests there, since i am already level 40

Alliance-side, Night Elves and Draenei naturally come from Darkshore to Ashenvale. Horde-side, Orcs and Trolls and Tauren naturally come from Barrens to Ashenvale.

Felwood is a different thing. It used to be a level 50 zone, and that was high enough that it was a deliberate choice rather than a planned part of the early experience.

Nowadays, though, with scaling, people go to whatever zones they choose, more or less. You could do Ashenvale and Felwood if you want. Do check out Un’goro before you decide though. :slight_smile:

At 40, you will probably hit 60 in two more zones, if you finish them.

interesting , i honestly dont like the design of night elves , but maybe ill play a draenei next , im still mostly exploring the game and not really caring about post vanilla stuff just yet , i also only really played precission hunter , later survival hunter and now i have a fury warrior , never really touched the mage roles

Pressing Shift + J opens up the adventure guide, go to suggested content and scroll to find which place you would like and start it’s respective quest, then it would guide you to starting in said zone.

Wow zones are beautiful, Western plague lands / Eastern plaguelands are amazing, also Azshara if you like industrial themes.

There is also un’goro, is you like Jurassic park themes, Stone talon mountain is a cool zone but will probably confuse you, thousand needless is amazing too It has some very cool visuals and aesthetics.

I would take the boat to booty bay and do the Stranglethorn Vale quests, I love that area

You could pretty much go to any Vanilla zone you want, I think only a couple are like 45+ or 50+ but everything from before scales with you to 60.

There’s a mission board in Orgrimmar in front of the central building in the Valley of Strength where Sylvanas is, it gives you the starter quest for 3 zones that you could choose from appropriate for your level.
