I don't want patches to be expansions

Is it though? because one of the criticism regarding titanforge was that people felt “forced” to go back to old raids for such trinkets (like Convergence of Fate in Legion).
Still there are reasons to go back to old raids, my guild still does BoD for jaina mount and there still are groups for glory achiev runs.

I dont pre-order anything. If i buy something i expect to walk away with it.

Companies fail and if you pre-ordered then you are sool.

Yes, but Titanforging as a system is gone going forwards so that’ll no longer be much of a problem. It was especially bad with early Legion thanks to Withered J’im. But, mount runs and glory runs will always be going on and doesn’t really mean the raid is still relevant.

i’d argue

the Essence system effectively does exactly this, drags Players to have to participle and progress through all content atleast once… but Concept of the game… Once you’ve passed content you realistically shouldnt be going back. because by Canon they are Dead.

Once you’ve killed Azshara. realistically from your game from a RPG point of view, your character has Slain her, so why you turning back for the threat you solved. the part where the game can feel too much like a “Patch”. is when Players who return to the game can Skip 3 Patchs of content and be caught up with the players.

The essence system does actually provide this… and we all hate it :stuck_out_tongue: theres people refusing to even try 8.3 because of it.

the biggest reason we’re seeing this comparitively to TBC is because theres 4 difficulties… Rewarding a ilevel of look per one basically puts a HUGE ilevel difference between Raids.

Well Conceptually. u wont automatically be uptoo par. For example… If u did the catch up gearing through the Quests and Assaults… u likely wont reach 440, at any quick pace. generally you’d have to participate in the older content… Original M+0s etc etc as a way to progress to 445. which is Normal Ny’alotha.

not entirely true. its very rare the catch up armour progresses you that far above the Raid Tier beforehand. which puts u Ready to move into the next Raid… instead of the guy Farming Rares in assaults for 410 gear :P… i’d know which i’d prefer to be in this comparison.

Dungeons do, M+0s Drop higher ilevel loot then the drops in the assaults, theres a Few Pieces of 430 and 440 gear given to u + Cape and your neck piece. the rest of them need manually farming… and the Dungeons are actually the way you do this.

the Old content such as Dungeons actually had their ilevels moved up… to keep them as a Catch up mechanic for returning players.

for example lets look at how i got my Priest geared which i started recently.

I got to 120, then Looked at WQs, which are from the expansion Launch to collect a certain amount of Gear. i then Proceeded to open up Nazajtar to open up the Questline into 8.3 content. which i then did giving me 2 430+ Pieces from rewards. a pair of bracers from one oif the assaults. i then went on to do the M+0s which are base game content also to get my ilevel up… i participated in both the Nazjatars World boss and 8.3 World boss for chances at loot.

once i got my emmiosaries to drop 445 gear… which are again base game content. i completed all three for some 445 rewards and then moved into LFR Ny’alotha.

WQs, Emmisaries and Mythic+0s are all content from the base game… once i got to 430 i moved into Low M+ Keys.

M+ entirely is from the base game… they’ve had their Rewards Increased in ilevel but it doesnt change the fact its the same content, same goes for WQs and Emmisaries.

comparitively to trying to only do 8.3 content, you’d be farming 410s from rare bosses… on a Low Drop rate of what u can actually do, with 2 chances a week at 430 armour with LFR To clear weekly.

this discludes going back to these tiers to get the essences on 1 char to be able to unlock them on my other characters

the only things that arent recycled Throughout the Expansion is the Older patchs Raid Tiers. Which Doesnt make thje game “patch to patch”… it just makes the raid cycles obscelete each other… which rightly should… as If u’ve killed azshara Shes Dead bro, from a RPG View u could argue… why are players going back to kill a Dead boss. “Cause you can talk to a timewalking drake to send u back in time to kill her again” but why would you?

the Essence system, Mythic Dungeon System, World Quest System, and M+ in their own right keep old content alive throughout a entire expansion. which keeps players having to participate in ALot of the Expansions Core Introductions.

the only thing thats Lost each patch is the Raid. and from a Raid point of view you could argue this is very true, but even with the incentive of essences returning players still arent going back. but i wouldnt realistically say u participate in 0 of the orginal Content as a Player walking through the door.

Alts get a bypass, as its considered acceptable if u’ve done it with 1 char. ur second char should catch up faster.

I like it, but i never understood why old raids turns completely useless just because a new one is out

So if you like a certain boss or raid then enjoy it while you can, because in the future you can’t return to enjoy it

Apart from the turbobroken 8.3 trinkets.

Why would I wanna do old content if the challenge doesn’t increase?
