I mean I don’t play BGs often because I dislike WoWs PvP in general, but even someone new to the game would realize that every modern standard of CTF visibility and encouragement of an enemy/friend holding a flag is missing in WoW.
No UI marker for the location (like the quest marker we have in PvE)
No Auto Ping system (a map-wide ping on fixed intervals)
No voice lines for flag pickups (WoW uses instrument signals, but voice lines would work better)
Alongside that there seems also to be a lack of:
Extra Rewards (like Gold) based on Flag bearer kills (both for defender and attacker)
Extra Rewards (like Gold) based on Flag scores (both for defender and attacker)
Extra Rewards for protecting your flag bearer (supporting and healing)
No wonder why so many public groups have trouble winning in CTF, when the mode fundamentally has problems that either make it very hard to spot and defeat a flag bearer because half the team doesn’t know where the flag bearer is or because no one feels responsible for picking up the flag itself…
When I am looking at the PvP UI from games like Elder Scrolls Online, I clearly see what is going on. And I would even know what is going on if I didn’t know the game mode.
The Glow on the enemy clearly shows on range that this player is holding something important for the game:
Meanwhile in WoW you barely can see the glow of the flag bearer on range, especially with all the spell effects thrown over the place:
Just my 2 cents on this. This mode could do much better with a bit of work.
the rewards for the things you listed are the fact that you are doing it right and you are going to win. there’s no need for anything extra.
this would be interesting as a brawl first
on the other hand, i had plenty games where i either lost from 2-0 or won from 2-0
plus those games where we tied for 1-1 in the last few seconds.
they happen. it’s too bad it’s not very often
things can be done tho.
remove the premades
increase deserter debuff
attempt to queue people with similar ilvl, or at least have some range cutoffs.
for s1 for instance, above 400 pvp ilvl, below 400 pvp ilvl
of course you gonna lost with 3-4 dudes on your team that have 190k hp vs the ruski premade
Well, I know too little to judge this. But one thing that can be done for sure is making the flag bearers more visible on range in CTF. That’s something that’s very easy to do.
