I hate how WoD introduced completely new Wolf mount models

And added them on top of those we already have, instead of replacing them.

With that move, Blizzard said: “we’re not going to update old mount models, enjoy your 2004 model forever scrubs”’ and it made me really sad.

Why, you got extra mounts.

Players dont like revamps of existing things. It’s simpler just to make a mew model.

Stop complaining over nothing.

To be fair, not all of them wolves… lots of them are just kinda similar, but not really wolves
Wolves
Dire wolves (you can argue they are wolfs at all… or proto-wolves)
Worgs
Garns
So the 2004 wolves model are different than the WoD ones… because, well, Draenor don’t really have the wolves of Azeorth…
Sure, this is more or less an RP reason, and you are right, Blizzard probably was just lazy

I actually like those new wolf mounts a lot. They look pretty cool and I still use them quite often on many of my characters. It’s true that the old models look rather outdated, but I’m not overly bothered by them - maybe because I’m so used to them being the way they are. I doubt Blizzard will update them in the near future, but who knows - it might happen some day.

And by the way, just because some people like the old models more, doesn’t mean they are “idiots”, as you put it…

I have flagged that comment as there is no need for it .

Btw they have updated some wolfs for example the AV one was done recently .

I don’t mind the old models - I mean they’re the ones that got me interested in this game when I was a kid after all - but I’d love to see them revamped. I’ll admit it must be weird for a new player who goes into this brand new world, plays through Exiles’ Reach which is mostly WoD and up assets so it all looks good, and then they get to SW/ORG and go to buy a beginner mount and it has less polygons than their player model.

I used to play on a Private Server that allowed you to toggle off WoD player models - if you preferred it, you could play with the classic ones instead. If a private server could implement something like that, I bet Blizzard could to retail. Just revamp every single old model that is relevant (mounts, dragons etc.) and then add an option in the graphics settings to “revert” them back to classic whenever you’re feeling nostalgic.

I doubt this is high on their priority list, or something they’d be willing to do in the first place, but one can dream.

Using old player models was literally a retail-feature when they introduced the new ones…

I only started playing retail in BfA so I’d have literally no reason to know that. Thanks for telling me though.

They didn’t update the old model. They just added a new one, with completely different unlock requirements.

the only actually updated base mount are kodos

No-one likes wolf mounts, they are too bitey… use your Llothien Prowler.

i think its more nostaglic to hold them to their orginal models as a landmark of when u achieved them.

I suspect the Llothien Prowler is equally capable of taking a big chunk out of your backside if you’re not careful. They have sharp teeth too, you know…

grins in Vulpera

Inconceivable!

I wish I had that in writing.

Considering some of the garbage they pulled with so-called “updates”, I wouldn’t trust this current team to re-paint my shed door.
