Here are my reasons why Stormbringer represents poorly designed game mechanics.
-
We need WeakAuras to track everything, but I have yet to find one that works consistently. Often, they show incorrect outputs. For example, the amount of Maelstrom until the next Tempest is inaccurate, and the next Rolling Thunder proc doesn’t display correctly on the WeakAura. This isn’t the fault of those who created the WeakAuras; it’s a fundamental design flaw by Blizzard. It completely disrupts your rotation when you randomly get a proc that your WeakAura couldn’t detect or when you don’t get the proc you were expecting.

Bad flow / clunky: It’s frustrating when multiple instant-cast Lightning Bolts or Chain Lightnings overlap at one moment, while at another moment, you find yourself just spamming Lightning Bolt or Chain Lightning while waiting for resources.
-
Ice Fury feels disconnected from your rotation; it’s just a random damage spell (at least in Dragonflight, it provided a small damage buff).
Overall, I feel good about the rework going into TTW and this 11.0.5 patch. However, I really think this hero talent is horrendous, and in my opinion, it’s the worst iteration of Elemental that I’ve ever played. In my opinion the definition of clunky.
By the way, Flash of Lightning was one of the coolest talents in the game. I’m honestly amazed that someone on the design team looked at that and thought it needed to go.
