Since Sylvanas left the Horde Forsaken doesn’t have a true Leader at the moment also Sylvanas probably will die in Shadowlands if not she will never return to Lead Forsaken again anyway
Now they really want to make Calia Menethil as a new Leader of the Forsaken i hope not because makes no sense, Calia don’t even know how Forsaken works yet and also she’s from Alliance and Forsaken is from Horde so won’t work well
If one character deserves to be the new True Leader of Forsaken that person is Lilian Voss, tip she have grown as a character in last few expansions and she’s great also knows her people, Lilian Voss is the one can replace Sylvanas and needs to be the new permanent Leader of Forsaken and not Temporary in my opinion
The question isn’t whether Voss or someone else deserves it or not. Lordaeron is a hereditary monarchy and as such is expected to be led by the ruling house - which in this case has always been Menethil. Now, if we talk about real life, I know that most of us live in republics. However historically most of the countries have been monarchies. And a bad monarch is still a monarch, the rightful heir of the throne.
The previous ruler of Lordaeron, Arthas, was truly a bad monarch that brought the kingdom to ruins. Now that he’s gone and the usurper that took the throne for the last few years is also gone, it’s only natural the country will be ruled by another Menethil.
The same applies to most of the other countries. Silvermoon is still a hereditary monarchy. The line belongs to the Sunstriders and only a Sunstrider can be a rightful ruler. Even Lor’themar is just a regent. It will take a lot of time for the elves to accept him as a king, if ever.
Alterac was a monarchy, now non-existent. Stromgarde is now an active human kingdom and it has a human ruler. A monarch. Danath Trollbane. He’s still not a king, but he’s part of the House of Trollbane.
Stormwind? A monarchy. With (SPOILERS!) Anduin gone, the throne is temporarily taken by Turalyon. But he’s not a ruler. Perhaps a regent or something.
The only exceptions are Dalaran, which isn’t a monarchy (cuz mages) and it has a ruling council. And Kul’Tiras which, while technically having a single ruler, belonging to the house of Proudmoores, the other houses have much more freedom.
I think that is probably what the Plot will culminate in, Calia basically telling Lilian that SHE is what the Forsaken needs, someone who been there and knows the of rejections and revenge and still pulled through as opposed to a “royal” who was never there. and putting the whole “Rightful Ruler” debate to the rest from the heir herself.
…Or just be used as canned drama for the next PUTTING THE WAR BACK IN WARCRAFT bit, because oh no, Lightforged Undead who love Alliance and now there is a dispute with murder and war crimes.
I think the Stone/Zelling storyline in the War Campaign showed exactly why Lilian would be the best replacement leader, because she makes in abundantly clear what becoming a Forsaken would entail if someone requests it and support for the ones who end up in it, which contrasted nice with how Sylvanas handled the whole deal Post-WotLK with her attempted …Mass Productions… that were practically rolling uncaring factory lines with a dash of brain washing (Showing very much that), and Nathanos being all “IDGAF, only my waifu matters” and using even his “fellow Forsaken” as fodder and inducting people (AKA raising corpses) JUST to use them as Fodder and turn against their former allies and family (sometimes against their will), which is really hypocritical since the Forsakens original beef was being mad about it happening to them and taking revenge for it.
Not saying the Forsaken need to be Carebears or anything, Lilian is hardly one anyway, but that they need to reaffirm to what was the reason they fought to cling to Undeath in the first place, Free Will, Indignation at having had their very being violated in service of being a weapon for a ruler who did not care about them and losing their old life forever as their living “friends” and family see them as abominations, initially due the similarities to the Scourge and general Necromancy monsters (That existed before the scourge and were pretty much uniformly Bad), latter due continued Faction Hjinx (of which the Alliance is equally guilty of) and move on from that to stop being Tools that others control, discard and consider disposable in a wanton manner. Not Tools of the Scourge, Not Tools of the Horde, Not Tools of the Dark Lady.
Nathanos, bahahah. He is just a simp and im not sure if we kill him during the scourge invasion since he becomes a world boss but if he doesn’t die and escape, he will most likely finally die for Sylvanas while Sylvanas will barely aknowledge him.
The big question is: Are the Forsaken even Forsaken at this point?
Or does Sylvanas forsaking them counts?
They are also not a unified group anymore. Not all of them feel the need to keep going to have some revenge against everything that lives. Some of them just want to continue their existence peacefully as long as they can. Some of them just want to pass away properly (which makes the expedition on Shadowlands very important so they do not suffer forever)
