I keep failing rare adventures

I must be missing something but I keep failing those rare mission table adventures that award campaign progress. I’m kyrian and only have 3 named followers. The girl is lvl 1 sice I unlocked her very recently, but Pelagos and that other guy are level 15 and the level 12 mission still fails every time.

My troops are tank and a ranged one that only hits the farthest mob. No healers so far are unlocked. I’ve tried every setup, tanks in front, ranged in back, named followers in front and tanks next to them. I see people talking about Soul Ash missions that come after these rare ones but I’m not getting that far.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I have the same issue’s; also as Kyrian.

Also getting higher levels on your companions does not make the missions easier; I just had (again) 1 mission in wich my team was competely destroyed and the enemy on 100% HP… Thats the 4th time I did that mission and no matter what setup, my team gets absolutely destroyed.

And I have seen these posts come by more often, so it seems that there is a bug somewhere.

Same issue, not only kyrian.
Took me 4 attempts to beat the campaign mission the first time. With a full squad of lvl 16-18 (forgot exactly) to beat lvl 12 mission.
I got a lvl 20 soul ash mission now but probably need lvl 30 folllwers for that atleast.

Yep, same here as Kyrian. I figured I need to level my troops before attempting to beat the rare missions.

I waited until my followers were high enough level. My Pelagos is lvl 20, Kythekios is lvl 18, and the other two girls are 13 and 10. I just put one tank filler npc and I have no issues beating the lvl 12 or lvl 14 rare missions. They are unbalanced, but if you attempt it with high enough followers, you wont have issues.

I advise leveling up your guys. If you happen to see one of those 1000 XP missions, take it immediately.

Kyrian followers are completely terrible. My team of Kyrians absolutely suffer at their mission table, yet my Necrolord followers are totally unstoppable.

Pelagos’ and Kythekios’ damage is laughably low (a level 22 Kythekios does 32 damage with his skill…really???) and Pelodis is literally just the Halberdier troop except with, hilariously, less damage. Kleia is the only follower we have access to that seems even remotely useful, yet even she is weak when compared to other Covenants, particularly NF and Necrolord ones, even when compared to other “tanky” units such as Gorgelimb or Emeni.

I am not 100% sure but ive heard that the lvl of the troops is the average of your heroes. so if you for example put a LVL15 and a LVL1 the troops will be lvl 8. and that is abit low for LVL12 missions.

Dont know if thats the case for you but you should make sure all heroes you put into a misssion is atleast the LVL of the mission

Levels of your troops are not average. They level seperately just like allies/followers.

yep i had similiar thoughts. i bet a lot of people had followers spread like 20/12/12/1 at some point. which owuld make troops around 10-11

Hmm. Atleast according to https://www.icy-veins.com/forums/topic/54604-command-table-tips/ the are average.

“The second might not be as obvious, and is definitely something you could miss if you’re not paying maximum attention, and that’s the fact that your troop level is determined by the average level of the companions. This means that if you did Torghast a little later and got the new companion from there, it will be level 1, and if you send it out on a mission with your older, level 13 companion, your troop level willd rop from 13 to 7”

Mine lose levels when I get a new follower… Feels like an average to me.

The game should not be populating the list with missions effectively undoable by the player. Every single silver or gold dragon mission has failed-- even with one level 16 companion when the mission is 12. Of course other companions are level 12, 10 and about 5 but then what can we do about that when we get them at different times?

I just checked; this is correct.
Level of troops 14; level of companions 14, 10 and 18. So yes, the troops are an average of your companions. So that explain a lot.

And that is a very bad system that absolutely kills the system at higher levels.
This since it means that you will be unable to do most if not any missions later on, seeing as your troops will fall back hard when your companions are level 60 or so, and your new companion starts at level 1.

I mean, the average of 1 / 60 / 60 / 60 is 45; and so even a level 50 mission becomes impossible to do then.

The level of troops is really strange. On my Maldraxxus it seems to be the average of my max and my min companions:

On the Kyrian it’s the level of my max companion:

Are you using healers? I have 3 healers at my disposal including 1 recent hero from Torghast, today i’ve beaten 7k hp elite second time, which granted new adventures with no problem. Night Fae covenant.

I feel it worth pointing out that the mission table appears to be deterministic and you can math it out ahead of time and work out which team wins…

It’s hard work, but you can.

  1. You can drag individual troops/companions on; the attack value is their autoattack
  2. Units can auto and special attack in the same turn
  3. So you know exactly how much damage is going out
  4. You know enemies attack down and left if they can, so you know which slot gets hit most
  5. So you know how long you have until that front left unit dies, and how much damage you have done to their team in that time
  6. You can then keep running your numbers through on the middle front unit and see how long they will last - remember to account for the tank being dead

That said; I agree, the rare missions are too hard. I got through a couple, but now I am repeatedly presented with one that has 3 enemies with a total of 7500 hitpoints. They will debuff my team by -25% and buff themselves by 25%. I cannot field a team that beats them, no matter the config. I can’t bash through that amount of hitpoints while only doing 75% damage.

It is annoying that we are faced with missions that simply aren’t going to succeed even with vastly over-levelled companions. Sure, eventually our guys will be strong enough, but meanwhile it wastes our time trying to do missions we just can’t.

(Tbh, the mission table feels like an untested afterthought. Did anyone in beta even look at it? Did the devs themselves do the maths on how it works at different stages.)

I have 4 companions as Kyrian, and none is a healer :<

My slaves failed to kill a fiery dog 5v1, Pelagos and Thalikos were LvL 19-18 and supported by 3 tanks.

Mission table is unfinished.

Healers?
Kyrians got none; not troops or companions.
And yeh, other covenants do…

I think I begin to see a pattern of badly tested mechanics here…

If troops being averaged out (wich they shouldn’t) and 1 of the 4 covenants do not get a healer companion, then it is clear that this system shouldn’t have been released as it is at all. It is very much in an unfinished state.
