In this case MOP remix and Cata classic are a week apart, but happened with past releases as well.
I am excited for both, but knowing that I can’t fully dedicate myself to one without neglecting the other is killing my excitement. I understand that maybe it’s a way to not have everyone concentrated in one game and cause lag issues but still.
Holly Longdale said in interview (i think it was with MrGM) that players from Classic and Retail are pretty much two very distinct community and not many keeps playing both for more than the first few weeks. This is why they did not care having WOTLK launch 1 month before DF and Cata 1 week apart Mop Remix and 1 month from Season 4 on Retail. She said they release Classic patch for the classic audience cadence in total isolation from retail.
I’m with you on that. I would have played Classic much more if the patch release cadence would have been better designed for players who play both. I would love to play Cata, since it’s one of the two expansion i did not played with MoP, but MoP remix and TWW will probably get most of my attention in the coming months.
I wish the MoP Remix event didn’t start this close to S4’s start. It’ll lower M+ participation, and I doubt my raid group will get together enough players for raid night. Participation is already low (summer, reheated content).
Mine was the fact that after playing DF Beta, i was totally unable to play without Action mode and interact button. I had the same issue on retail until Pre-patch. It was so frustrating to play without (In the same way i felt frustrated not to be able to Dragonride outside of DF zones). Everything i did felt so archaic and clunky it was not fun to play anymore.
But i had this overlap issue with TBC and some patch of Classic 2019 at that time.
Yeah. I think I’ll enjoy MoP Remix more than season 4, but it does feel weird that a WoW retail season will basically be dead after 3 weeks.
My guild isn’t doing mythic raids this season, and pushing M+ doesn’t really feel all that rewarding. I guess all it’s good for is trying out alts and thinking about what I’ll main in TWW.
Isn’t a normal season dead after 1-and-half/2 months anyway, leaving only high end MM+ and Mythic progress (for kinda 5-ish% of players)?
This is nothing new. You just get the same feeling the other part of the community have after they finished progressing Heroic. Not much to do with not so many players left to.
Cata Classic is not exactly in the best playable state right now. It is riddled with bugs and trying to level is a pain because the 80s are bored and trolling, killing all the quest mobs for “fun” or during their archaeological digs (which are also bugged!) There’s also the welcome back weekend, so I imagine it’s packed.
I was very excited for Cata Classic and now I’ve thrown it in the bin. I imagine Remix will also be buggy and full but hopefully only for the first week or so.
Ghost of Tsushima releases for PC on the 16th. I may actually play that instead of the MoP Remix. Still enjoying M+, but admittedly not super hyped for the Remix event.
I’m way too overwhelmed with content atm. I’m not that happy about it.
Usually Cata (or insert appropriate launch) Classic is during a nice quiet time for Retail and I can have a nice wander down memory lane for a month or so. This time everything is happening at the same time, Cata Testing, Alpha testing, S4, Dark Heart Patch, Cata Classic Launch, Remix. It’s too much.
Personally, I only play retail WoW and I am very casual too in that the highest level of raiding I do is LFR and mythic 0 for the quest whenever it pops up. Casual not in time played though as I’m on every day doing various things, so more content releases are good for me right now.
I guess the point is that there are options for everyone and if you happen to enjoy multiple games/activities then you need to effectively prioritise your time and not request that everyone else has to go through a drought of content so you have time to farm everything you need with the time you have.
