I played WoW for quite some time with all classes and followed a lot of news. I bought the game the first time amazed by how the WoD WindWalker Monk played and it completely fulfilled my fantasy as the player.
But then at the start of Legion the Fists of Fury ability of Monk turned into this senseless animation where he shoots light blue souls out of air or perhaps some lasers. It didn’t resemble melee combat anymore in the slightest.
What are the odds of us getting Monks to look like martial artists again rather than power-rangers?
have ability to actually do AoE damage without several seconds of SETUP (aka a spammable AoE chi generator, so we don’t have to waste time attacking single target to even be able to use AoE once in a while)
not rely on uncontrollable pets for dps
Playing monk is… WEIRD to say the least. You know how basically every other class can shoot AoEs freely? Well Monks can’t, because both of our AoE abilities (that actually deal proper damage, so not counting Expel Harm) are resource SPENDERS, meaning we first have to generate a few Chi to use them.
Not to mention for Spinning Crane Kick to deal good damage you have to hit a few of the targets by other abilities first, so while the rest of your party/raid deals massive damage, you’re still single target hitting to set up.
Not to mention the damage of monk is just TOO DAMN LOW even with 3 semi-permanent pets and 1 longCD pet. That’s just sad, honestly.
Sure, monks have some nice self healing options, but when you have low dps, marginally higher self healing won’t help you much. Especially in PvE.
