I love the paladin tanking but why can’t you add so we get holy points from doing Holy avenger shield and [Divine Toll] just curious why the reason you guys removed that.
It would fix 99% of the whipes paladin prot paladins have with not having [Shield of the Righteous] up i mean rogues get combo points from everything.
Blizzard logic since legion yet to know why they are so set on you guys casting judgment when the thing you want to spam is more avenger shields.
Honestly just add back holy power to prot paladins warriors can do ignore pain which they can damage to keep up paladins should have the same treament.
Avenger’s Shield is intentionally not granting Holy Power.
Shield of the Righteous uptime will be constrained, but some defensive power will be removed out of SoTR and into other forms of mitigation.
Divine Toll will likely be updated due to the removal of Holy Power from Avenger’s Shield.
Im with the OP on this that would fix Prot paladins main problem of dying on packs.
same with warrior they can keep ignore pain with their dps like a no brainer they should remove holy power and give paladin recourse like light power instead the more adds banging you you slam shield that absorbs and make avenger shield do some defensives instead.
Like its not complicated either give back holy power to avenger shield or rework the whole class.
You know. Tanks have it already to easy with all the dd´s that play groupfriendly and help where they can and always help interrupt mechanics and never pull additional mobs by their own.
Blizzard treats Shield of the Righteous like it’s some super OP mitigation, but it really isn’t. With the current tuning, you feel like paper without it and I think it’s the main reason why so many prot paladins are struggling with M+ atm. My pally is 601 ilv and with SotR up I go from 83K to 159K armor, or 44-60% dmg reduction. Meanwhile, my prot warrior which is 604, so pretty much the same gear, has 130K armor just passively, which is 55% dmg reduction.
So basically, AFK prot warrior has almost the same basline damage reduction vs physical attacks as Prot Paladin with SotR active, and somehow Blizzard thinks SotR is OP and nerfs the uptime on it?? That makes absolutely no sense…
I know that other factors play in like, mastery, consecration, block, CDs, etc, but regardless how you look at it, the relative power gain of SotR is not strong enough to warrant not having 100% uptime imo. When SotR is up is the only time I feel “normal” when tanking on my Paladin. Not as strong as warrior, druid or even dh, but at least my HP doesn’t yo-yo like a Blood DK.
It feels kind of weak yes but on other hand they could fix this by buffing templar as well make [Light’s Deliverance] proc after 35 instead of 60 would make it a fun mini game procing Lightshammer for a heal and an absorb.
