I loved MOP, but damn were the dungeons terrible

It’s funny because MoP had the single most detailed and interesting looking raid in the entire WoW history (Throne of Thunder), but at the same time it introduced so many LAME dungeons it’s actually painful.

Imagine if M+ existed back then.
Spamming the Siege of Niuzao temple where you throw flasks on the ground for 10 minutes.
Or Stormstout brewery, with the annoying Hozen noises and the cringey beer theme throughout.

God these dungeons were awful.

Mogu’Shan Palace, Scarlet Monastery, Scholomance and Shado-Pan Monastery would’ve been fine on M+ honestly. It did have CMs of course, which some people seemed to enjoy enough to do all day long.

I agree though that they were designed with fancy mechanics in mind rather than a competitive setting. These days, the dungeons are designed to fit the M+ label, which is a better approach.

oh yea. people would line up in mythic+ runs trying to listen to lorewalker cho talking about some nonsense again.

Sometimes it’s the mechanics, but sometimes it’s just the aesthetics and the setting.
The brewery is just an awful place to visit.

Yeah, they were pretty bad.

The 5-mans in WoTLK and Cata were great and this was a big drop.

I also miss having new 5-man content, instead of the boring M+ idea of ‘same dungeon, bit harder’. Blizz do love to have you repeat the same content tho.

I loved the dungeons they fit in with the storytelling in mop. Everyone is always trying to rush these days…

Absolutely

werent that bad… Maybe hearing the 100000th time “Peppers peppers!” isnt fun like the 1st time but if you dont rush they are nice dungeon.
Except shado pan monastery.

Cataclysm I agree but wrath dungeons were just aoe fiesta pull the whole instance and aoe it down in seconds.

Cataclysm dungeons were fun about 2 weeks until whiners got their wish and they were nerfed to the ground.

I would love to have some dungeons as large as old brd with more emphasis on exploration rather than gogogogogoggoggo rush as fast as you can through linear tube.

Yea I remember old Sunken temple…loved that one

I cannot describe to you how infinitely better CMs were than M+. I do not feel stronger about anything in the entire world.

Also, pandaland dungeons were cool, I liked them all

The dungeons sucked. Which is honestly a testament to how good the rest of MoP (world content, professions, raids, pvp etc) was that bad dungeons didn’t tank the entire expansion.

BFA had meh dungeons and it really impacted the entire game in comparison to the quality of Mythic+ in Legion.

The game used to be more than dungeon farming.

I must be weird cus I absolutely loved the MoP dungeons and anytime it’s timewalking or I have to level an alt I always default to MoP.

The challenge modes were super fun too.

Only once people had overgeared them. In the beginning, certainly on heroic setting, you had to be very careful with what you pulled when or it would be a certain wipe.

I liked most of the dungeons, some just got old very fast due to some voicelines or fights. Stormstout Brewery might be the only one that would be awful as M+.

I wish the Scenarios of MoP were more interesting though.

This was only once people out-geared the first wave, but the tournament and the three Icecrown citadel ones were much more involved. Pit of Sauron is still one of the best 5-mans WoW has ever had.

I thought mists of pandaria had scenario’s…

Kinda off topic but class fantasy was best in first half of MoP (monk, demo lock…) such a joy to play expansion (i agree brewery was headache very soon)

I loved the MoP dungeons.

Always make time for Pandaria timewalking

Nice to have a break from “gogogo the forces of darkness are overwhelming us gogogo!”

…not that some players don’t try to gogogo them, forget to inform their team to get on the elevator, then get ranty when 2 players die because they didn’t expect the tank to have zero threat on the mobs.
