I made my first Shaman in 2024 and im in love with all the abilities and with the class generally (PvP player)

I don’t have an extensive WOW career, as I started playing more actively during Dragonflight for a few key reasons.

First and foremost, WOW’s vast array of abilities and spells, combined with its complex PvP gameplay, is exactly what I’ve been searching for in a deep and diverse game. I’ve tried many second-generation MMORPGs, but over time, they took a more streamlined approach, pruning abilities and simplifying combat, which made it less engaging. The reduced skill gap between players just didn’t keep my interest, so I moved on. But WOW’s depth kept me hooked, and I found a new home in Azeroth.

Another factor was the introduction of Solo Shuffle, which allowed me, as a newer player without a circle of WOW friends, to dive into ranked games. The addition of Solo RBGs in War Within only strengthened my desire to play.

Shaman part:

Originally, I played Frost Mage because I enjoy kiting and control. I also tried Destro Warlock and MM Hunter. When I saw the XP boost event, I thought, “Why not try another ranged class?”

I’ve always liked the concept of totems and the Shaman’s elemental powers, and I felt a connection to the class. So, I decided to try Elemental Shaman.

Leveling was an absolute blast, i was like oh yes oh yes, more abilities and more abilities, and not just useless ones, that you rarely use, but meaningful ones. Once I started PvPing, I realized this was the gameplay I’d been looking for: constant decisions after every GCD, with multiple ways to approach each challenge. The damage rotation, too, was surprisingly fun — more enjoyable than Frost Mage, for example. I’m not typically fond of DPS rotations (they’re often the most boring part of any MMORPG, which is why I avoid PvE), but even that aspect of Elemental Shaman felt engaging. And with the class’s diverse toolkit, everything just feels awesome. I even began doing some basic PvE content, something I never imagined I’d enjoy in any mmorpg.

The best part? The constant decision-making after each GCD. Do I root? Dispel buffs? Hex? Stun? Jump? Knockback? Slow? Heal? Do I replace my totems? etc… Mixing all of this with movement, situational awareness, and reading buffs\buff management — I’m absolutely hooked. This is the type of gameplay every MMORPG should aspire to. I still love Frost Mage, but Shaman just feels better.

I’m completely in love with this class. I even started learning Restoration Shaman, and it’s just as much fun.

Please, never change this class. Don’t ever remove abilities from this masterpiece.

I just regret not trying this class sooner!

There’s still a lot for me to learn in WOW, but one thing’s for sure: I’ll be doing it on my Shaman.

Thank you so much for creating this class!
