The last time i played WoW for ”Fun” ?
Maybe BFA? Tanking M+ with Several of the beam corruptions was really fun.

It never really did It’s a game, the only objective value you can get from it is what you want it to be but that personal value you attribute to it isn’t necessarily perceived as valuable by others.
I think some people overestimate the prestige of certain things in game. Others may perceive it the way they do, but never will everyone do that. Thinking that that value is absolute is a figment of the imagination.
I do think when people think more along these lines, they risk having less fun. When you feel you have to prove your value, you may do things that don’t necessarily give you joy. If you fundamentally do it for others and their perception of you, your fun isn’t the core of your motivation. The judgement of others is.
Yeah I mean that’s the nihilism I was talking about. Some people wanna be immersed in a mmorpg, and others just want pure gameplay/collecting
Hmm I see that differently. It’s like any hobby, any immersive activity. People usually do them because they enjoy it. That’s all the motivation a person needs.
What anyone else thinks on you engaging in your hobby or fun activity is rather irrelevant (at least, to my brain).
Me too.
This game is designed with e-sports in mind and thus seasons. It wasn’t for the better, but it is what the game is now and i don’t see it changing given who is in charge.
Personally, i loathe nostalgia and this feeling you are stuck. You are not. Don’t live in the past, live in the present.
Rather than miss the past, look for a different game. Times change Garosh said ( ). There are games out there that are still designed for fun more than e-sports. Find a new game that you enjoy and exists in the now.
This is actualy THE problem. Its pretty hard to find active casual guild and players. Most of those people just play solo and doesnt bother with any multiplayer aspect of wow and what do care has mostly alredy quit game. Playing classic or some other game.
Seasons became thing becouse of quadrizilion difficulty levels what blizz put into the game for sake of acessability. We alredy had seasonal gameplay in wotlk becouse of this. It just wasnt called that way. Game becomes seasonal when you introduce agressive catch up systems. And those systems havls to exist if you have big powercreep aka way to many difficulty levels.
Says the guy/gal with 3.3k M+score. Farming mounts and transmog for me at least is fun and relaxing and i could hardly call it obsession. So speak for nobody but yourself.
Early in the expansion, you would see them doing Harpoon fishing…
But I wonder if they are now hanging around the Aetheryte square in Limsa instead.
What a steal! How do I get in on this on the buying side?
Your assesment is accurate , player’s ego rivals devs nowadays .
We just play for fun. It is a hobby for most players. You are not going to spend your rare free time on a game you do not enjoy. It is all about fun.
Define “FUN” You will probably find that every poster here has a different version of “FUN”
I am having fun playing most of the time, but I agree when doing queued dungeons it might be hard finding people who do it for fun. Met someone during a Motherlode run a month or two ago that asked why we feel like we had to fight every boss (when presumably we can skip them). I didn’t bother answering but for me the fun part in dungeons is the bosses and their loot. I’m not interested in a skip run to the last boss for quick experience. I bet a lot of people who feel the need to skip bosses in leveling dungeons don’t actually find it fun doing said dungeons.
I’m guessing most people have fun even in trivial queued content the first few times they’re doing it. But PvE content lacks longevity so devs rely on gated rewards to do the trick, which means the fun shifts from gameplay to completion.
Collecting mounts IS fun for me. So I still play the game for fun.
If you say so.
I still see people in WoW on a daily basis and I’m not even doing M+ or raiding particularly.
Hated the cities in FF, nightmare to navigate when you are new. I’m glad I started in Gridania (being much simpler) because the others would have made me quit.
I play this game for fun, just dont get too addicted to the fomo stuff. ive made peace not getting any of the pvp stuff mostly because i suck at it.even the holidays stuff
Not much fomo stuff left to obess over, dont know what you mean by this.
There isn’t a huge amount in the game that is time limited in comparison to the enormous amount that isn’t. But people seem to dwell on those things the most.
