The portal room is boring.
Makes the world feel dead.
Bring back the good old days with Ships and flgith paths!
I had a good chat with Ishayoe about this in another thread and totally agree. It would make the world feel more connected and real. Given that both Dazar’alor and Boralus are port cities, it sees silly that we don’t travel there by boat every time! If Orgrimmar extended and had a proper harbour, that would be ideal for reaching places like Zuldazar and the Broken Shore. Or add more Zeppelins - especially since the one to Undercity isn’t running so there’s space at the Zeppelin tower.
We still have flight paths though, not everyone completed pathfinder so for some it’s the only way of faster travel. Personally I didn’t like the Ships/Zeps as I found the waiting around irritating, I remember having to take a boat to Auberdine to run across the dock and take yet another boat to get to my destination.
I like the use of portals, again this is just personal opinions, but I would like to see mages give alternative portals to those in the portal room. So yes you could take a portal to Shattrath but maybe a mage could offer a portal to Netherstorm.
They would be nice to have but I still prefer the portal room. I don’t get a great deal of time to play wow and sitting waiting for a boat for 5 mins would be really annoying haha.
Unless you just talk to the captain of the boat and a cutscene sails you away
Using automated ships is boring as well… I want to sail my own ship! And not I don’t want to automatically just appear at my destination, I want to sail there. Worlds needs to be far apart! Space Ships needs to travel between planets and air ships or naval vessels for the sea. I also want broadside canons and mortar fire and engage in PvP and PvE naval warfare. In fact it should not be that easy to land on foreign shores. You will have to battle naval blockades, sea pirates, bounty hunters or the foreign kingdom’s hostile naval forces who is dominating the area. In fact you should first secure a nearby island by taking out the island’s defences and castles and keep defending the castle you now command. Can be a guild effort or solo with followers you recruit to defend the castle when you are not online.
WoW classic is waiting for you if you want to waste half your playtime travelling instead of a fast A -> B that let’s you spend your time actually doing the activity you wanted to.
Love the Zepp + Ships, I still take deeprun tram every week or so.
Would be cool if the ships and zepp did not cut to loading or to have the choice to enjoy full journey, adds a lot I think.
Also in Boralus I can’t help but take that boat, last few times I did this week it always taking me to alterac valley lol, always and I bug reported it months back as I saw many others did.
No, you are just wrong.
okay thanks for letting me know
I don’t miss them either, I love the portal room. I play enough portal jockey without having to throw a load of zeps/boats etc into the mix.
We are several expansions in now, it’s just impractical. The options are there for those who want to take RP routes.
This is such a 4head comparison I don’t even know if I should try to take it seriously.
Flight paths and zeppelins, along with ships aren’t what makes Classic slow.
It’s the lack of portals and expensive mounts, LMFAO.
But I doubt you could understand that.
Classic has it’s place and all but you’re kind of saying slow things don’t make Classic slow. They all contribute to the slow pace, the lesser flight paths, the long runs from graveyards (usually one per zone), the zepellin and boat travel networks, the cost of flying, the limited portal destinations even from mages etc.
Taking boat isnt optinal if you can just click on portal. Optional means you use different path but you end up with same outcome and since taking portal is path of elast resitance and far more efficient than taking boat than its not optional path.
Anyone who doesnt miss sense of the world and just want to teleport around to be constanly engaged and rewarded simply isnt mmorpg players.
Nope, what I said is mostly what makes Classic slow.
Zepps, Ships don’t make any difference.
Trips are less than 10 seconds, it’s people being lazy really, and that’s clearly the case in this topic and retail players.
If you are heavily into RP and want to RP travel then it’s the ideal alternative for those who want to.
I don’t think my answer was obscure in it’s reference:-
Nothing like waiting for public transportation in game, like I don’t get enough of it irl. No thanks
I like the portals, and I’m sad they removed the portal from new and old Dala. They should make moving around the world as painless as possible. Being carried around in a mount is hardly engaging.
Besides, portals never give me problems, whereas changing continents through zepplins has been giving me weird bugs since the pre-patch launch.
I find the zeps and boats are also part of what make it slow. I have to agree with Mahara, it’s part and parcel of time wasting on Classic, it’s fine there as are the long flight times and everything else.
But lets not pretend it’s an efficient way to get around xD
Every now and again it’s a fun blast of nostalgia to hop on one of the boats or Zeppelins but most of the time I’m very happy to have our lovely reliable portal network
Well… I agree!
But the portal room is so very practical, I wouldn’t want to close it down.
There was one bug I remember from way back, but if I took the boat to Borean for some strange reason it would sometimes just dump me in the middle of the sea, yeah I don’t miss that
