I really hope Blizzard upscales existing models textures in the future

I’d love to use older gear transmogs, but their pixel density sometimes really sucks on their textures. In case you don’t know I mean with pixel density, here a definition:

Texel density (also referred to as pixel density or texture density) is a measurement unit used to make asset textures cohesive compared to each other throughout your entire world.

It’s measured in pixels per centimeter (2.56px/cm) or pixels per meter (256px/m).

Like, certain items from WoD have a pixel density that is as high as modern day transmogs. And then alongside some items from WoD have like a pixel density from TBC.

I would gladly have my WoW data on my PC take up more space if that means I can use more upscaled versions of the textures for transmog items.

Like, looking at Diablo 4, I can optionally download 4k textures for more graphics fidelity. Why is that no option for WoW yet?

And before someone says “performance reasons”, Blizzard could easily have those improved textures only be applied to your own character model, if you wish to.

I don’t care how other player characters look. I just want that my character looks good.

Can imagine them using AI to upscale all the old stuff eventually, will save them a lot of money and man power doing such a monumental task.

would have to be an option since we have weird people here with windows 95 computers. so something like the NVIDIA AI tool for anyone that wants to spice the game up.

Aren’t they in the process of updating assets via the use of AI to release at a later date in a future update/expansion? Maybe I heard wrong but I could swear I’ve heard this.

There are some classic items in the trading post now that have been upscaled to have more modern texture quality, don’t know if you saw those, but if these are anything to go by it could be looking good for your wish of better old gear textures!
