Don’t get me wrong. Its not gonna set the world on fire but as a different thing to do in game. Its hella fun for about 4 or 5 games. I can see myself playing this every now and then.
Not gonna lie I went into this thinking. So, this is what they have been up to instead of fixing the interface/weakauras, but I am pleasantly surprised at the outcome.
Yes, I found it mildly entertaining for the first few games, but the novelty wore off quickly for me and the issues (level differences, abilities very imbalanced, unresponsive combat at times, rate of plunder income) became more pronounced.
If this was a permanent mode, I’d say I’ll just do it once a day for the extra plunder, but this event is only around for a few weeks, and I’d actually like the final set of transmog.
It would be fun if you knew you could just play it an hour a day and be done with it…
But queuing already takes like a minute on day 1 before you can join a game, the amount of reputation required to get to Renown 40 will take a lot of time to complete for most people.
Does queuing get any worse than it already is? Where you will have to wait several minutes before you can join a game?
Will Blizzard give you additional quests or a bonus percentage for experience at some point or will they reduce the amount required?
As it currently stands it will take hours among hours depending on how much experience you can gain per battle to get to level 10 renown already… let alone 30 more levels.
Still what buggs me most about that event. I pay my sub to get WoW content, not some rip off from another game that just uses WoW models but doesn’t even add anything to the main game. Especially when there are plenty of things that need improvement in the actial game(world) itself.
imagine grinding like 300 matches on the same map, music etc for the renown rewards, id be mentally ill at the end of it, for a parrot mount, i just cant do it im sorry.
Played 2 matches, first one i died within 2 minutes and second one i managed to live a bit longer. Its ok, not something i’ll play alot but i’ll probably jump on and do some games with a friend if we have time and nothing to do. I will never get to renown 40.
My guy you know that if you play m+ in the “actual” game you are running the same dungeons for a ludicrous amount of times, not even for a linear track that you earn consistently, but instead for a random drop that you hope for that its the right dungeon, then the right item, then the right extra stat and then more then once as you need to increase ilvl through out the season.
That’s rng(dungeon) on rng(item) on more rng(with the right bonus stat if you care) on rng(all over for multiple ilvls). If you think playing a gamemode with different abilities and builds that takes about a third of the time of a m+ that even if you do nothing and fail grants some progression towards the track guaranteed.
Listen if you don’t like the event that’s fine, but please just say that, you don’t need to justify your dislike, if you dislike it you dislike it and that’s fine to feel. But don’t pretend that this form of progression is 1. Not seen before and 2. Somehow worse then a very popular form of endgame in the “actual” game.
See this is kinda how I felt. I just think for a lot of people. Doing the content will be really grindy to get the cosmetics and people will end up feeling pretty burnt out by the time they get there. Which will kinda suck for later game modes like this. Renown 40 feels too far away.
