And instant casting is the problem, do i actually feel amazed to press flashing icons when i have a proc? Absolutely no. I even raided as ele multiple times and the spec felt more exciting and a bit in more line with how it looks today. Elemental shaman class problem comes from instant casts that are layered over around the class skill set and the less player choices you have, the less interesting it becomes to play. There are numerous facts that the spec needs rework.
If this refers to PvP, the problem is our hard hitting casted spells are nerfed in PvP and just don’t cut it (Stormkeeper, Elemental Blast). The problem is also current tier, heavily emphasizing fire build. The Volcanic Surge build is neat in theory, but it just doesn’t cut it in modern game, and for ele especially…we are not mages nor dot based like aff or spriest are.
As for Lava Surge I dunno. That mechanic is probably the oldest dps mechanic in current WoW. It was our tier bonus in last tier of Wrath, and proved so popular it was made baseline. There are probably players that are younger than this particular mechanic
