An example is hat and face items, they both take up helm slots but I personally would like if Blizzard made it so they had a “face” slot the was for pure cosmetic reasons so putting eye patches, monocles and glasses with hats and helms.
The slots are for pure cosmetic reasons sorta how you get the extra shoulder slot when you transmog your shoulders.
I remember seeing such requests multiple times, especially with class specific slots, like quivers for hunters or librams for paladins, so there is at least some demand for such a change.
It took an eternity to finally be able to mog each shoulder separately…current helms and “face pieces” (glasses, masks, monocle s, etc.) are their own model covering the head that removes a character’s hair model in the process, or parts of it clipping through.
To suggest separating helm slots with a separate face slot would be a monumental task requiring redoing the majority of helm models… which would realistically be not worth the effort.
Best would be to slap in that “face slot” and let the user worry about overlapping issues with their helm, like how you got toys that add stuff to your face that can poke through the helm.
Yeah, let players worry about that sort of thing, i for one would love to have my warlock wear something on her head and glasses, 99% of the cloth headpiece models don’t even clip with glasses, anyway. (It’s probably less for mail and plate, but let the players figure that out, they spend more time on their characters’ appearance than Blizz ever will)
There is scope to make some of the existing slots visible.
Neck could have jewelry necklaces or armoured gorgets. Rings could appear on hands. A trinket could be a broach that holds your cloak on.
Scabbards should be there also which could be hip or back versions.
Honestly I wouldn’t mind the clipping, some of it I can work around or incorporate into the look, I just want to not go bald the moment I put on a hat XD.
