I’m a casual player and I only play for the PVP. Blizz have gone to all this effort to make the game more casual and ult friendly, yet the gear grind is still very much real if you want to be competitive in PVP.
Apart from the obvious tuning issues, I think PVP was in the best state I’ve ever seen it when everyone only had honour gear the last few weeks. It makes a hugely positive difference when you essentially have a level playing field. Now we have to grind for conquest gear AND our Bloody Token set gear.
I get that this is probably the least grindy PVP gear has ever been, but for a casual player that wants to play more than one class, it’s still pretty much a second job. When is Blizz going to realise that people will still avidly play PVP (more impotently they will pay for a sub), without this arbitrary grind for gear…?
Such a shame, I really thought this would be the first expansion casual PVP players could truly enjoy. And don’t get me started on the 30+ min solo shuffle queues… PVP players play for the PVP Blizz, not the grind. The percentage of those who get a kick out of being more powerful than others is far smaller than you think, most of us just want to enjoy some honest PVP.
How so? I work 6 days a week, sometimes 7, and I’ve still managed to gear 3 toons and get them to 1.8k in solo shuffle for the elite sets.
It’s just about time management honestly, solo shuffle has made it a million times more casual. That being said, I do understand what you mean about the queues for DPS. Not sure that can be fixed unless they decide to group allow triple DPS comps vs other triple DPS comps.
Getting full honor set takes like 4-5 hours, how is that a long grind?
You don’t need anything else, one or two crafted items you should be able to afford with gold you made while leveling and conquest cap will fill automatically while you do any kind of PvP.
Like, how can you even say “grind conquest gear”. If you do any form of rated PvP conquest points will come to you.
Casual is clearly subjective based on your circumstances. I can only play for 2-3 hours most nights, and only a few nights a week. Sometimes I can play for longer on the weekends, life permitting. I’ve been taking liberties since launch and have been playing for longer, but it’s not sustainable.
I think I’m more frustrated by the length of the solo queues than anything, if it doesn’t improve I’m probably out.
Where did I mention grinding honor gear? I specifically said the grind for conquest gear. It’s still a grind no matter which way you look at it. A casual player will always be at a disadvantage against someone who can spend more time in the game. I thought that was changing with Dragonflight, but it really hasn’t changed much at all. It’s still not casual friendly for the most part. Yeah I’ll catch up eventually, but I can only really focus on one character. The grind is completely arbitrary.
There is a difference between “casual friendly” and “free”. You don’t want it casual friendly, you just want whole gear set for free.
Honor gear is grinded in one day or you level your alt through PvP from lvl 67 with the ilvl 302 green gear and you are fully honor geared at max lvl. The conquest is already capped, so the casuals have enough time to play their main, their alt and whatever.
Later on we probably get conquest boxes again, so you can easily gear you alts too.
The difference between full conquest geared and honor geared is like 13 ilvls. How much more casual friendly do you need? The next step is literally giving out gear for free…
there is no gear grind for pvp in df its all casual friendly
only thing holding casuals is the random matchmaking in soloq where 0cr ppl are put vs like 2k ppl like shown by so many influencers and all around if u care to see
ask for right things and u can have a chance for better
Did you level trough pve only and now complain that u have no gear when ure lvl 70? That is ur own fault then, the rest of us who play this for pvp play bg while we level and were honor capped when we ding 70 and instantly max gear
I was born 411 pvp ilvl dont cry nonsense things when there is real problems
When did I imply I wanted it for free?? Have people really got nothing better to do than put words in others people mouths. Yes, I have time for 1 character, maybe 2 if I’m lucky. It’s not ideal for a huge amount of people.
Conquest gear was pretty clear from the beginning, the difference will be 13 item level. That is quite a difference to honor gear, but you don’t need to farm honor for it anymore and upgrade it, only the conquest points. That is something you will get automatically when you enjoy the PvP content!
You also don’t have to farm the Bloody Token set gear, only if you want to do PvP outside of instances, it might help. But in the long term you don’t need it.
clearly u have not even played wow if u think this isnt casual friendly what u have now
child dont cry for nonsense things and look around and u will see the real offenders u should focus on
this is like the stupidest thing ive seen made when the whole game is a fiesta and the mmr matchmaking is just totally random for soloq and this child here is crying that he has to gain honor set when he dings max lvl?
jesus christ can u like uninstall? i dont want you in same match with me in soloq where i get -100 for 5/6 with u there and u gain +300 cos u win 1 round 1/6
Dont forget that bloody token is 421 scaled. If you farm both and conquest then you will have big advantage. My monk now have 424 and 421 weapons on first week with chants that I couldnt afford for honor weapons. If you dont farm bloody tokens, then you can only afford 1 expensive or 2 cheap gear pieces for conquest, 1 from vault. Bloody token gives you +1 high ilvl piece per week. Also it have different stats that conquest so for some specs bis gear will contain few bloody token pieces.
The difference between honor and conquest gear is roughly a 9% stat increase.
If you cant compensate that with skill its a you problem and not the games problem
Because it’s already as casual friendly as you could make it. The only step left in order to make it even more casual friendly would to make it free…
You can gear one character fully within one day with honor gear. If you don’t have time for that, the game is not for you.
Conquest gear is something you get by playing PvP. The conquest is already capped to casuals like you can catch up easier.
So I ask you again… how much easier do you need it?
It does, but at one point into the season, you have enough conquest points and vaults, to be fully equipped. That’s why I wrote in the long term, you don’t need it.
They already mentioned that they are constantly trying to improve it. A blue post from 15 hours ago:
