I tried all healer specs to level 30. to test how comfortable and fun it was

Weird. My paladin lasted very easily with heirloom gear. Not invalidating your experience of course but the disparity is strange.

My DH on the other hand needed constant healer attention…

Coming from someone who had all classes at max level for the last couple of expansions, this is a fun experiment but I wouldn’t tie too much conclusions to it. Low level dungeons are notoriously easy to heal on any class and won’t give you a lot of insights on how a character truly performs on max level content.

As for Mistweaver, can’t say that I agree and I don’t feel it has that much buttons. Btw, did you notice the instant heal on Enveloping Mist and Vifify when channeling Soothing Mist? Very handy when tank healing.

As a monk-aholic who has levelled a lot of monks in low level dungeons as healer or as tank, I have to agree that part of our toolkit when healing early level is to just dps down mob packs instead xD Once Soothing Mist is up, the instant casts are nice, too, but until then, it’s easier to kill everything than try to keep up with the healing.

The only healers you can / manage to play perfectly even at low levels are three: holy priest, shaman and mw monk. All other classes, get strong at 60. With these three healer classes, you can keep the whole party alive. The only problem with the mw monk, IS MANA! In m+ it never ends and you can heal even without it, but in raid, you absolutely need the mana. In the first two minutes of the raid, you have already run out of mana and maybe on the third round of the healers, you are there with the mw monk to use the cds … but you have already run out of mana and therefore you cannot use any cd except mist… Blizzard has two ways to improve the mw monk: Either reduce the mana cost of all spells by 50% or double the total mana to mw monk. I, personally, would never choose a mw monk for my raid group for this problem.

What year is this?
Am i too early for class trials?

Damn time machine, must have thrown me back in 2012… here we go again with the end of the world crap.

I just think it is very difficult to compare classes by having lvl 30’s. Most specs are missing core abilities on the lower levels :frowning:

For me personally - resto shamans currently feels best and easiest healer to play (subjective ofc).
Why?

  • strong meaningful CDs (drop tide/link/CB and keep healing)
  • very high recovery healing (pump these surges on 10% hp target, enjoy big numbers)
  • good utility (ofc not as good as druid, but it’s enough to have meaningful impact)
  • as much as I hate this part - r shammys are very easy to dps with and they do best dps of all healers (though in theory disc priest should be the one putting 50/50 dps/heal).

To look a bit into history of wow - there were ofc times, when other healers were much easier, couple examples:

  • woltk holy paladin (beacon tank, never stop casting holy light, go brrrr, never oom)
  • mists disc priest (for me by far the most fun healer variant ever existed in wow. It’s the only time when I was healing in high end raiding and was enjoying it. But it got nerfed to current state :frowning: ).

If I will not burn out - this season I want to complete KSM on all 3 roles (tank/dps/healer), and the healer of choice will be rshaman

This is basically my point. The topic is about lvl 30’s. All cooldowns you describe are getting available after lvl 30.

draenei paladins have HOT from their racial

I do level holy paladin as horde atm, I’m at lvl 50 now. The whole journey have been a blast, had no problem to heal thru even big pulls while doing massive dmg (often top), do only level via dungeons.

Problems can come from old expansion like tbc were bosses don’t have close combat healer in mind or weird scaling and bugs.

The only thing that I want to change with H-pala is talent three. We should be able to make a build that are more or less range healer for dungeons or raids that requires that. Otherwise cool class and spec!

Interesting insight, thanks.
I used to heal as resto druid and loved healing because it was more like a mini game and a nice change.

These days it seems so much is asked of healers that it stresses me out. I haven’t found the one spec/class I gel with yet. I really want to be a holy paladin because, well I love Paladins, but the melee part throws me off.

I am very tempted to do holy priest. Always wanted a priest and they have gorgeous mogs. The dps side I can just throw some dots and smite if nobody is dying.

Level 30 is so irrevelent these days, you spend like 15minutes in that level before moving to 31 and so on.

But besides big CDs - resto sham already has aoe stun, big dps, mastery healing, etc. So most of the points still stand

Like i emetioned in the disclaimer.
Classes change through out the leveling, they get either better or worse depending.
The reason why i only did it to 30 was to test out how they felt and how fun was it to use.
Also time was one of the reasons because there was like 6 healer specs.
So from the unfunnest to most funnest specs right from the geckgo also stress.

In a good day, i can aid you, i can be the teams tank while we que, youll get experience and get hand of being a healer, minimum stress.

Holy paladin can also be played ranged, except that no one uses that build. But there is

Quite difficult when you need to crusader strike for holy power though. There is a reason nobody is using it.

You should give it a try. Holy Priest is so strong and fun, and if they hit them with the nerf hammer you still have disc as backup healer

Imho Holy Pala is really unique and my favourite currently. They dont have a lot of group healing but they will save more people than every other healer due to their powerful single target healing. Melee is kinda meh, but you get used to it really fast and its free damage on top.

You don’t have to use crusader in fact if you choose to play ranged  you have to use a completely different spell and you have to be necrolord for example.

Not a lot of group healing is a choice with Divine toll available (and Beacon of faith/virtue)

I have mained the last 5-6 seasons holy paladin. What completely different spell do you mean?

not a lot of group healing compared to other healers in raids

Tried playing beacon of virtue when it was bursting, completely overkill if you use it with divine toll, lmao. Nobody needs THAT much healing.
