I tried to make this game fun for me again

I tried to make this game fun for me again by taking a break for almost 6 months. But I logged on today and all I felt was soul destroyed. I just couldn’t get motivated to do anything, it just feels like a chore to play this game now. All the classes and specs for me are boring and lack the identity they once did, everything cost a fortune and nobody talks to each other even in guilds. It’s like playing a single player game that you have to sub to. And all this political correctness on top of that is making everything fake and sterile.

I seriously doubt DF will encourage me to come back as it’s the same old first three months is ok of a new expansion and then it’ll take a nose dive. The last expansion I really enjoyed was MOP…a decade ago. And I’m not here to attack anyone still enjoying it but I guess I’m actually done for good this time which makes me sad as I used to love this game.

Maybe I’ll come back for MOP classic? Is it just me or is anyone else feeling this way? Like a sense of loss? /rant over

Tbf you have to look really really hard to find anything like that ingame.

Season 4 is what the game should have been at start it is so easy to do things now hardly a chore at all.

so 4 years time then i hope you have a nice break.

It’s very normal to get bored of a game. After playing any game for more than a year, there’s a high chance of getting bored of it forever and never wanting to come back.

Many feel the same way, myself included.

the loss passes eventually… i started suffering this 2 years ago personally, it does get easier.

i no longer miss not playing the game at all and can happily stay not playing it, equally i would happily return if it was improved.

i doubt you’ll get much answers in support here as most people who feel like this just stop completley and cannot post, i am a oddity in that case.

but there is a lot of us believe that, it’s just the way this forum works… it silences our voices.

i think we easily outnumber the remaining users on this forum had we the ability to talk.

The way i see it is if blizzard genuinely cared about player feedback they would remove the subscription to use the forums.

While agreed. I can kinda understand why they dont.

WoW is a game you have outside entities DDOSing the servers during launch or attempting to attack blizzard during releases.

Opening up the forums would invite those same players through the doors.

There is vital feedback that sure unsubbed players would have, however there are negatives assossiated with this and given the extent some have gone to just to be hit blizzard to any degree would likely flag concerb

DF so far imho has been great feedback wise, even tho class changes were slow, they are happening and pretty damn good ones too.

But yeah we shall wait and see for that one lol

See you in DF

You hit the nail on the head with this. I think they took things too far and destroyed the soul of the game.

Added todays “new” players that join just want to zerg, conquer and achieve. Even if they have to pay for it to feel accomplished. Then they move on to the next new thing.

Since VC guilds have become far less social in the chat, there are tons who get together on discord and make it social again. You just have to put effort into it.

You right on DF is going to be fun for few months, but by season 2 it will be the same cycle and then wait for the next season. But we have to see what they have in store, hopefully some fun things to do with dragon flying. Though my worry is that the entire expansion is hinging its success on this.

pop back in for DF and see how you feel you never know you may stay for a while

Easy doesn’t make it fun though chores are chores even if they make them easy. The game really needs something fun to do outside raiding and dungeons.

One of the main reasons why i personally can’t stand the game anymore is the constant pampering of instance content players and people like me who actually loves the open world of mmo’s all we get is either world quests, daily qusts or daily world quests…

Open world in wow is so underused that its extremely baffling to me why even make leveling content when its only use is to push people to boring repetitive dungeon/raid nonsense.

Ok. Bye

I’m not in a totally dissimilar boat. I put a lot of time (average 8 hours a day for 5 years) in WoW from Legion to (half of) Shadowlands but my life moved on. I lost my enjoyment for raiding, I lost my love for the world (I’m a single player would farm the same Raid on 40+ characters for gold to get LongBoi so I’m not adverse to the grind. )

I got beta and the second (iirc) quest is fly to three corners of the Org and talk to three people. Logged out there and then. It’s not changed, I have. I bought DF and of course I’ll try it but I can’t see myself staying. It’s not a problem sometimes we stop enjoying the things we once did. Also if DH stays rooted to the bottom of DPS there is zero chance

Lmao if your plan was to try and make wow fun again for you, getting stuck over this “problems” isn’t for sure the way to do it.

If i play a game, i play it cause i find the gameplay fun, not cause there isn’t a fruit painting.

We can do pet battle both PvE and PvP, participate in world events (brewfest as of right now), do BG, do RBG, arena or even participate in roleplaying.

There’s plenty of things to do.

If you would elaborate upon this for me? It can be hard for others to understand what you mean by fun as we are all different.

I’m bored with Retail atm, but S4 didn’t excite me at all as I’m not a fan of recycled content, I got my KSM mount and slime cat and now I’m playing Classic until DF hits.

I’m looking forward to DF, but SL is done for me for now

Maybe try Roleplaying, fishing, questing in mists of pandaria, any other stuff.

But a break is always healthy. Good luck!

Skipped S4 entirely…

But I’m having tons of fun in TBC/wrath classic.

Ret paladin with actual utility and buffs.
It’s fun.

Yeah, S4 is different…it’s a bit experimental and filler-y, you can take it or leave it. I’ve had my fun - done most keys at +20 (except Karazhan which can do one) and cleared HC fated raids twice around. As no one in my guild has the appetite to raid, we are calling a break until SL. I’m doing enough for my weekly chest if I feel like it now. And I suspect many people are in the same situation so it is probably not the best time to return. Once DF prepatch is on the horizon it will probably be a different matter. So extend your break and come back in a few months…seems like a sensible idea to me.

No! Breaks are unhealthy and not allowed! :rage:

On that note maybe you should try more different things? I was bored but now grinding old achievements I missed…and having fun levelling a panda as it had been ages since I did the starting zone.

Sometimes, when I am bored and so, it’s just the right moment to walk further and leave the thing behind.

Perhaps you have outgrown the game?
Perhaps you have to look for different ppl…in our out the game…
Go and investigate and try different and new stuff
:+1:

Blizzard seems to repeatedly this mistake, where the last season “should have been s1”, you’d have thought if they agreed with the players, they’d have learned by now that grinds have to have ends that are realistic, and not gated.

Korthia turned this rubbish up to 11. Wait a week for 5 minutes of dialog, by the end of the story, I’d lost interest in the start.

I have felt the same but not taken a break.
I changed focus to something else in game again; now I mostly do gold gain content or level alts.

I have met a few new friends lately tho - two through doing a random m+ and they were very friendly and one had a TRP of “looking for more friends”-note. So I asked if they wanted to be friends and… here I am :>

The third I met on beta realm. I was standing around outside stormwind pressing buttons at random as a Evoker Healer.
I also said I do not know how it works yet at all to ppl that wanted to duel.
Eventually a random person came up to me and asked if I wanted to learn how to play it - I said yes and he logged over and then we sat there for a few hours with him showing me some cool tricks and how he had figured out the class.
Now he is on my BNET and wanted to help me get more into pvp and help learning that better.

So for me it changed very fast, just like that.
Now I have some new friends who I can do different content with and who were all fun and interesting to talk to!
:blush::sparkling_heart:

Sometimes it just takes some random socialisation to “re-spice” the content!
