Hello, people! I want to start playing WotLK Classic. As an adult with a job and responsibilities, I just want to relax after work for around 1-2 hours. Is WotLK Classic a suitable choice for me? Can I participate in raids and dungeons without being in a guild (since I don’t have time for guild raids)? I have read about GDKP and RMT things in WotLK Classic, so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to PUG with random players in order to gear up.
You will be able to gear up and raid but at casual level. Gearing up for ToC is going to be a challenge since not many people run casual dungeons. There are a lot of pugs you can join . Choose the server wisely tho, many of them are dying.
I would rather play Vanilla if I was in your shoes.
Or the OP can play both - rush to max level and end game content in Wrath and casual slow relaxed leveling in Era between raids.
as an adult with responsibilities myself, i found much more enjoyable leveling in retail, where mobs die after 3-5 hits and don’t infuriate me with their uber-health. plus, transmogrification, pet battles and barbershop… the real casual stuff is there imho.
Yes, WotLK Classic can be a suitable choice for you to relax after work. You can participate in raids and dungeons without being in a guild by joining pick-up groups (PUGs) or using the Group Finder tool. However, it’s important to note that RMT (Real Money Trading) is strictly against the game’s Terms of Service. Engaging in RMT can lead to penalties, including temporary or permanent account suspensions. So, I strongly advise against participating in any form of RMT. Instead, focus on enjoying the game through regular gameplay, which allows you to progress and gear up legitimately. Enjoy your gaming experience while abiding by the game’s rules and guidelines!
Curious, what exactly is there to do in classic vanilla now? recycled raid content? is anyone even doing that now? if not, what else is there to do in the game? level 1-60 and explore azeroth?
Chill leveling experience and exploration mostly. When I played wrath I found out I missed like 80% of vanilla content which is rich
If he’s only going to play for 1-2 hours a day I think he will have a really hard time with raids.
I would certainly recommend it in your situation.
I have quit the game for a bit more than half a year and came back last week. Its easy to find dungeons, the tool for it (not the automated, cross server one thankfully) is used to great effect.
You enlist yourself, you can put out join-requests to groups etc. I was set on thinking I would have to skip all dungeons starting this late, but this was not so. I just enlisted myself for the first dungeon I wanted to go to, and got a whisper after 40 mintes ‘wanna join our group?’. Thats the longest I ever had to wait, usually things get going within 15 mintues.
Questing is fun and cool, WotLK is the time when classes have the nicest gameplay imo, very distinguished from one another still, yet at the same time all classes can do a little bit of everything.
As pointed out, your choice of server is very important, I would suggest Mirage Raceway to someone in your situation, lets breakdown the servers you can go to:
Gehennas - 100% horde, largest server. Filled to the brim with zoomer kids, toxic and total aejts.
Firemaw - 100% alliance, largest alliance server. Filled to the brim with zoomer kids, toxic and total aejts.
Earthshaker - 100% alliance. Competitive. Mostly aged 20+ people. Its allright (I play here)
Mograine - 100% horde. Probably the horde counterpart of Earthshaker. Its a bit smaller.
Golemagg- 100% horde. The overflow of Gehennas which was full. Avoid.
Pyrewood village - a 100% alliance PVE realm. Doesnt seem to have a lot going for it, but it can work. If you like the name, or something.
Mirage Raceway got all the RP players from the only RP realm when it got cancelled. I played on this realm in TBC and had a really good time there. People are old, BONE OLD. I am 44 and that was nothing too exceptional in our guild. All in all I would guess the median age to be around 29.
Not wanting to force you on anything but I think Mirage Raceway is the way to go. It is also the ONLY realm that has both horde and alliance on it, you can go around picking flowers as a Night Elf and run into a female Tauren doing the very same thing. On this server a small portion remains of what was once baseline in World of Warcraft: both horde and alliance on one server.
All the other realms are empty, don’t go there.
MMOs are time consuming games, if your current situation allows for only 1-2 hours per day for your hobby then honestly I don’t think that wow is the best place to put those. If you are really set on playing then retail may be a better choice, compared to classic it brims with solo content.
I’m in a similar boat regarding time, but I’ve allocated like two evenings a week for classic ERA where I level with a friend.
Pick up a round of quests, do them in about two hours and call it a night. Every once in a while we do all the prequests for a dungeon and then do that. One dungeons- one evening of playing.
It’s the most relaxed and casual I’ve ever played WoW. Dunno whether we’ll raid come 60, but I imagine it will be some pugs here and there. I’m more looking forward to my dungeon 0.5 tier set than anything honestly.
You can join us on Giantstalker if you enjoy taking it slow
