I was almost kicked for talking during dungeon

Yes.
I was almost votekicked out of my normal dungeon group as a tank, when I was trying to talk to my party. Thank god there was one other person who liked to socialize in an mmo, as he was the deciding factor of me not being kicked out of the group. I’d like to also point out that my party members that decided to kick had no problem with my tanking, and the reason for kicking me was for: “talking too much.”.

So my question out to the people who might feel the same inclination to kicking social party members:

  • Why do you hate socializing in an MMORPG?

I wouldn’t kick someone for talking (unless it was abusive), but on the other hand; I don’t really feel the need to talk with random strangers in a dungeon. I’m there to do the content, pure and simple.

Erm… don’t talk loads in a dungeon? It’s not the place to have a chat and make friends. Go to goldshire or a city if you want to chat.

If you’re talking, ya wasting time, making mistakes. And honestly it looks like you’re taking the p*** and not trying.

People done go to dungeons to chat, it’s to gear up/level.

depends what you were saying. If someone was going on like “omg like yknow like omg your dps is bad like omg and stuff like omg and like yknow omg and lol omg mega twittle nerf uber omg lol like omg and stuff like omg and like omg and yknow like omg and like omg and like yknow omg and like omg lol and your dps is bad omg like omg lol and omg lol like omg like omg pokemon omg lol like omg lol and yknow like omg lol and like yknow omg twitter omg lol and like yknow omg lol and yknow hairspray omg lol like omg and like yknow omg lol and omg like omg yknow lol like omg and yknow stuff like omg and lol and I don’t like school omg lol like omg and yknow like omg omg like omg and lol like yknow omg lol and like omg like yknow lol and omg and like yknow omg lol and yknow like and stuff like I don’t care omg” and then finishes with a “drop mike, like omg yknow like omg and omg like yknow omg like omg and yknow sup bro” then im not surprised they wanted you out. Personally id have wanted to evict you from the gene pool if you did that

Because the new era of players are more likely single player mode … players…

I have done hundred of m+…not a single word other than hi…

WoW in terms of socializing as an mmorpg have failed quite a lot …

Just look at the guilds per server …
I recall in Tbc/Wrath Genjuros and only we we;re having near 160 guild raiding guilds …H/A …
Right now after so many year Darksorrow/Neptulon/Genjuros we have like …20 ??? in 3x server

Population are dropping and let’s face it less people mean more single play mode…
That’s what i can think about this

At least you agree on the fact that kicking people for “talking” is terrible.

And this guy and his kind, ladies and gentlemen, are why the game has been going down the drain on that level.

I can say the socializing was mainly asking about current news like classic etc.
No harassing was done.

The group said they had nothing to complain about my tanking, I was pulling big camps and we were going smoothly. I can basically selfheal myself to keep myself full even with big camps.

People in general don’t like to talk while actively doing content. I can talk alot, while in party with other people. I can sit on my flight to a mythic+ and chat around etc.

However once the dungeon have started I prefeer a full focus on the task at hand. Sure mentioning some related stuff like boss strategies etc. are just natural. It’s the same while I raid with guild, we always sit on Discord and can have a wild chat about football or w/e during trash but once we reach the boss we all want a quiet enviroment, all communications should be related to the obstacle before us etc.

People just function differently. However I whould say there’s a time and place for everything and idle chat and banter while clearing content might not always be appropiate even if that happends frequently in guild mythic+ runs etc. But kicking someone for talking, while in a dungeon never really crossed my mind…

Why would you socialise in a m+ run?

Would your raid leader be ok with you chatting during a boss fight?
Each aspect of an MMORPG has their place.

Are we playing the same game ?

why don’t you share the screenshots of the chat that u were trying to make ? Surely you said something that triggered members of the group.

How do you feel about socializing in a normal dungeon?

Well of course. That’s just abuse of a system not meant for such things.

I don’t think we are.

If you type in /s or /i in my group during a boss fight you’d be kicked from my group.

and as for the post … I had a fine conversation with a Scottish chap and his addiction to friend/boiled/poached eggs and toast for his morning breakfast whilst doing a 5man this morning. It was highly enjoyable, everyone participated apart from 1 person who didn’t say hi at the start but tried to involve themselves in the conversation as it turned out it was quite fun. We didn’t reply to anything they said.
Moral of the story, say hello, be friendly and nice things happen. Be a grouchy (&**(&(*&( emo kid and you wont enjoy the game and no one will want to spend time with you. Personally, seeing as how you know the one person who said no, the reason why and/or you whispered em to find out why you were kicked … theres more to this story, there always is, and I call bullcrap on all of it.

Listen, I’m not saying what they did was right. It’s silly and petty.
But, if you’re talking about the weather in a dungeon run… don’t do that.

Down the drain on what level? I’ve played since classic and dungeons have never been a chat hub/cyber place. I’ve played many mmos like ff14, eso, gw2 etc… none of them use dungeons to socialise and chat about game of thrones, the weather etc

The games sharded, ya dungeons are gonna be full of russians, spanish, french players etc. It’s literally the complete worst place to socialise and chat about stuff.

There’s absolutsly nothing wrong with socialising or making friends, just pick the right place to do it.

EDIT - im fully for a hi/hello at the start. Bit of a chat/thanks at the end of a dungeon. It’s honestly something i wish more for. Its the standard in games like FF14. Deffo not during sharded content though.
