Hi,
I’m an old wotlk player who lives in Uppsala, Sweden. I found out that the fiddler who played on the Grizzly Hills music is a leadership coach in the buildning next to my department. Her name is Cajsa Ekstav and she plays the swedish traditional instrument nyckelharpa. I’m no journalist but when I found out she works nearby, I contacted her and asked for an interview about her role in making the music, because I thought that if I don’t do it, noone will document this piece of WoW history, most likely.
I’m just a musician and not a “content creator”-youtuber, and don’t really plan on becoming one either, but I tried my best to make the interview YT-“worthy” and I very much enjoyed meeting someone that has made my life happier without knowing it, and it was so weird that she had absolutely no idea that millions have heard and enjoyed her playing.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video and share it with us. I personally love all the music for the zones in Northrend and my own personal piece is from Storm Peaks Bor’s Breath. Your video made me log back in fly to Grizzly Hills and find a new appreciation for both the track and the zone. So yea thanks
This brings back memories, my first day at Uppsala universitet she played at the opening ceremony with a bunch of other people. Was really cool to see!
I’m like 99% sure I saw her (pretty cool she worked on WoW, I had no idea). If it by any chance that wasn’t her there’s someone else in Uppsala that looks just like her!
Appearantly somewhere around 90% of all nyckelharpa builders are from the regions around Uppsala. I would say it’s pretty likely it was her since she works at the university
