I’m wondering if we’ll have “Access Progression” in Icecrown Citadel? When I’m looking back on this “Systematic Gatekeeping”, I think this might have no place in the Classic Era. What are your thoughts?
I quote:
Icecrown Citadel is split into four sections since release, in the following order: The Lower Spire (the first four bosses), the Plagueworks (the next three), the Crimson Hall (the next two), and Frostwing Halls (the last three).
There was a period of some weeks after the opening of the first section before going on into the second. The Lich King may not be fought until Professor Putricide, Blood-Queen Lana’thel and Sindragosa are dead.
Any heroic modes may not be attempted until the Lich King has been defeated on normal mode, and you cannot face the Lich King on heroic mode during that week’s lockout unless you defeat Putricide, Lana’thel and Sindragosa on heroic mode.
The second wing of the Citadel, the [Plagueworks], was opened on US servers on January 5, 2010. The third wing, the [Crimson Hall], was opened two weeks later, on January 19.[[1]] The fourth wing was opened with content patch 3.3.2 on February 2, 2010.
I think they’re only going to stick to the requirements for heroic. Different sections getting released at different dates will cause too much of an uproar from players for blizz to even attempt that.
I can’t see blizzard forcing us into 8+ weeks of full normal runs before we’re allowed to attempt heroic. Many guilds will be looking to clear heroic from day one, and never touch normal mode on any bosses.
If they disable the timegating but keep the requirement to have killed LK normal, I can foresee a massive issue coming out of this. I hope that requirement will be account wide, or removed alltogether.
Otherwise a few weeks in every sensible pug will be running at least some heroic modes, and if that isn’t possible because someone hasn’t cleared LK normal, people will simply not bring that person.
