hi
im beginner to mage but want to ask when should i use lce lance when it proc? some one told me use it only on frozen mobs ok what about not? what about raid bosses?
if i use lay of hand use it when i have 5 icles?
When it comes to IL you usually want to use them when they proc (FoF). Sometimes it is a good idea to save a proc for a certain moment but most of the time you just want to get rid of that proc asap.
FB (procs FoF) > FB > FoF
The main reason to dump your procs asap is to make sure you don’t have a FoF proc when you use your “shatter combo”, which looks like this:
FB (procs BF) > FB > BF > IL
FB (procs BF) > FB (cancel the cast or finish) > GS > BF > IL
The main thing you have to understand when you start playing frost is probably the Winter’s Chill passive from the Brain Freeze spell. Note this passive comes only from BF not from Flurry itself. This passive applies a debuff to the target and your spells are gonna “act” like the target were frozen. This is what we are trying to abuse as hard as we can.
Because of the travel animation when you use a combo like this FB > BF > IL you can land both BF and IL in that 1-2 window and shatter both of the spells.
So back to the topic. If you are saving too much FoF procs you gonna end up doing this. FB > BF > FoF which is not bad but not optimal.
So, try to dump your FoF procs before going into a BF combo. Save FoF procs when you know you gonna have to deal with mechanics in the near future that require movement.
The only time you every wanna spam IL without any kind of set up is probably in PvP when you are chased, out of shimmer charges and don’t have anything better to cast. It really is just a last resort.
