Icy-veins easymode guide?

Hi!

What is your take on the easy-mode section on the icy-veins class guides? For someone who maybe wants to raid normal/HC and maybe do some mythic keys but nothing too serious, is it okay to follow the easy-mode guides on icy veins?

For those that don’t know what Icy-veins is it is a site that provides guides on how to perfect your class.

Thanks in advance!

No, you always need to do the best you can. Especially as a healer.

I see your point and I agree with you that you should always do your best, however…

The people at icy-veins made this “easymode” for healers as well, and on the guide they say as long as you are not targeting mythic raids this guide is for you.

The meaning of my forum post was to hear whether people agreed to it or not, and hopefully get an explanation for their answer.

If you can elaborate I would greatly appreciate that

I’m not sure that thinking of playstyle in terms of a reading assignment, like “If you want to do Normal, you can just read the EZ Mode page, but if you want to do Mythic you have to read the other pages as well” is a useful way to think.

Some people never read any guides. Some people go far beyond Icy Veins and try out the various class and spec guides posted by several people, comparing different builds. Some people figure it out for themselves, and some of those write the guides.

The EasyMode guides are good for beginners. They prescribe one simple, model way to play. That build and rotation is viable, but it doesn’t cover all the cases. It also generalises across all gear levels and stat distributions.

A good example to show the difference between the approach of someone who knows the basics of the class and someone who knows the class and how best to use it in various situations is to compare the EasyMode page for Holy Paladin:

with the detailed breakdown for best results on each boss in the Ny’alotha raid:

Clearly, someone using the Raid Guide correctly, even though the talents and essences don’t change much between bosses, is likely to get better results than someone using the EasyMode.

But even that raid guide is simplified. You could then compare it to individual guides to each boss written by top players, which you will often find linked in your class DIscord, and hit up Warcraftlogs.com to follow the very best performances, seeing what trinkets, essences, traits and distribution of rotation they used on each boss.

There is no specific end-point for any specific level. You keep doing what you can, you know your limitations, and you keep learning.
