FFXIV PVE endgame is extremely scripted and predictable and it’s easy to tell that even without addons.
No. I play both FFXIV and WoW. WoW beats FFXIV hands down as far as PVE goes, at least in the current state. There’s been times where FFXIV has been better but that’s not now.
It’s not easy to tell, not at all, starting from shadowbringers some bosses in trials/dungeons have unique animations for their mechanics, it’s more jarring than wow because before shadowbringers there really was consistency in visuals. (I’m also not in endwalker yet)
I don’t think raids are any different.
I don’t have problem with installing addons
I’ve finished everything up to and including Eden back in shadowbringers as a white mage and as a paladin, I haven’t finished endwalker yet but so far everything has been relatively easy there as well.
FFXIV is a lot easier to tank and heal in than WoW is, in pve. It’s extremely scripted. The boss(You are only fighting the boss) will behave the exact same way every try. It’s just a matter of learning the dance. I can literally countdown to when I need to cast a healing spell in FFXIV because of how scripted it is, otherwise I’m just DPSing.
In general maybe it is, but some bosses still has visual “surprises” like last ball in malikah’s well that has electric field laser thing that isn’t outlined by traditional orange indicator and first time you need to guess that spheres around the corners are safe zones, or this music boss in Dohn Mheg that has attack i still don’t exactly know how to dodge (to be honest i completed it only 2 times)
true
If you talk about timings then yes you are right, i assumed you are talking about visual clarity, sometimes i shooked with all visual clutter that game throws at me
In wide mmo terms it can be considered burst button and not “ultimate”
Like i don’t consider iajutsu in ffxiv on my samurai as ultimate.
Tbh this argument is pointless because all those games are different and it’s all semantics
If you want to call one of your skills an “ultimate”, but by all means.
But I do not want to see actual ULTIMATE skills being added into the game. The way the system is right now, works. There is no need to add another skill feature, which will end up becoming broken, screwing up PvP, changing the way the game is played, screwing up Mythic+ team comps and all that stuff.
Hero talents as they are, sound great and change up the gameplay style of your character, within limitation.
But if you want to use ULTIMATES! Then you have mobas and Overwatch
okay, lets see:
No boring trash
No running to a boss after a wipe
Mechanics are clear and easily to understand
–>You dont need Addons to raid
Every boss has multiple interesting mechanics right from the start
→ The first half of the bosses in wow in mythic raiding are rather unimpressive
Less Raid-instant wipe mechanics to see and learn mechanics
→ You will still wipe due to enrage but you see more
Before DF (from BFA-SL) lots of classes in wow were rather boring for me ST
Its just so much better in design because of this
Its been a while since I raided (raided in shadowbringers and in shadowlands), so cant say how its now.
For me the best part of wow pve is M+ by far.
And lets be honest here, while wow is more chaotic, addons take most of that away.
Also for most parts of wow tanking was as easy if not easier in wow because it was mainly taunting at stack X. But I definitly hate that you no longer have 2 rotations as tank in FF.
The only raid i was playing was ARR alliance raid that was mandatory to play to progress through story, there was a trash clear, it was just disguised as encounter, every raid after ARR is selection of areas with boss encounters?
Anyway i don’t find trash clear in wow as something bad, and it’s not always even boring.
maybe idk, you do run after a wipe in dungeons tho
no
Maybe, but are people really use no addons? i know that square enix allows addons use if you are silent about it, i bet every long standing static use as much addons as they can.
Every time we had complex first encounters whole community whined about it, first bosses being simple is wow’s motto
Also i checked endwalker tiers, there are 6, 4, 6 bosses in each tier, so there are far less bosses than wow raids
There is no trash in raids anymore, alliance raids still has it but that one is more like wow raids, but for catchup
FF has also more shortcuts in dungeons.
Addons are forbidden in FF14, while they wont ban you for using cosmetic stuff… raiding is another thing. If you use addons for raids and get caught in any way its a ban and you get striped of the everything related to the kill.
Also the entcounters are clearly designed for not having addons, while wow entcounters clearly are designed for having them.
I personally play with allmost no addons (I mainly use Details as my DMG meter) in wow.
I dont know a boss in mythic that is basically freeloot is kinda meh for me.
I prefer bosses with mechanics when I raid.
Each ‘‘season’’ in FF has 4 Raidbosses, 1-2 trials, and and an alliance-raid later.
Lots of bosses, lots of fun to do them. Not to mention that ultimates and unreal exist.
So yes while it has less bosses in the raid there are other cool types of Raid-like PvE.
For me there is also not much difference if there are 8-10 bosses in wow per tier when only 4 of them have actuall mechanics… but thats me
